I pulled the trigger on the gray/charcoal seats. $79.99 each with free shipping. I paid $8 bucks total to upgrade to 2-3 day shipping.

The seats are pretty much the last pieces of the puzzle to finish up my resto. Painting the hull may be a possibility later this summer.

Things left to do:
Glue down carpet
Install electrical panel
Mount seat bases
Mount bilge pump and thru hull fitting

Seats should arrive on Monday....so we're hoping to get the boat on the water for a sea trial next week.

Ezmobee...thanks for suggesting better quality seats. Didn't want to spend more money....but in the end, I'm sure I'll be glad I did.

I love spending your money :D

I like the gray. Good choice. I can't wait to hear how it performs with the CMC unit.

Yeah...I'm psyched to try the CMC. I've never owned power trim.

I like the fact that I can now putt along in shallow water using the Evinrude....rather than having to tilt it up manually and use the electric trolling motor for skinny water.

Tires arrived.

4 tires to support a 16' aluminum boat seems a bit excessive....but I'm not going to go to the trouble/expense to convert the trailer into a traditional single axle.

Here's a pic of the trailer for those who haven't seen it

Now, at least I'll have 4 tires of the same size on it. :)

BA - No one is gonna ask if the boat is too heavy for the trailer. The good thing with a light boat and four tires, is two flats won't slow you down as long as you keep the flats on the same axle.

What size are the tires? Or maybe, what size did you decide on?

Each tandem side pivots. For example one of the front tired goes flat...that rim will touch the road. So I don't think I can continue if a tire goes flat. I'm not sure though. It's a weird setup.

The tires are 5.70 X 8. They are rated for 715lbs each.

You could always put a strap on the side of the axle with the flat. Should hold the rim off the road.

And you have four spares now too.

. I bought 2 tires to replace the smaller tires in the front. The sidewalls are cracked, but I guess they would work in a pinch.

Got a bit more work done.

Mounted tires on trailer
Ran wiring from fishfinder, lights, bilge pumps, etc to Seasense switch panel. Going to mount it under rear splash well...just inside the starboard sliding door.
Bought stainless hardware to mount bow and stern pedestals ($22 bucks! Yuck)

Still waiting for email saying that my carpet adhesive has shipped. :(

On a side note: I picked up a 1979 Johnson 70hp from CL. Seller said it hadn't run in 2years...but I took a chance on it for $200 bucks. I figured, worse case scenario; I would steal the LU for my '79 Stinger.

I checked spark......good
Compression- 120psi on all 3 cyls :)
Hooked up a set of controls and fuel tank.........she fired up in a about 5 secs.....and idled nicely. :) I've still got to clean up some of the cowling foam that mice tore off, but other than that she's in good shape.

I rolled it out front and put her up for sale for $650. I've got a guy coming to take a look tonight. I'm starting to take a liking to buying and flipping boats/motors.

The search for a LU for the Stinger continues.....

You old motor flipper you.

I've had some good luck flipping boats/motors.

Glaspar w/80hp Johnson- Used it for a season and made $700 profit
1977 Evinrude 70hp- Flipped for $400 profit
16.5' Sea Nymph- flipped for $425 profit (including old pedestals that came with boat)
1979 Johnson 70hp- Bought for $200 (should get $600 for it)
1979 Stinger with CMC TNT- paid $350. Kept TNT and will sell motor for at least $300 or so (more if I find a LU)

just saw the pic of the trailer. tires by Mr. Donut...... ;)

with all the profit from the motors, do the single axle conversion. problem i have with little donut tires is how much faster the bearings are spinning compared to with larger tires. and with 4 of em, it seems like this thing is a bearing rebuild/replacement by the side of road waiting to happen. i'd sure be fanatic about lube if you keep em.

Single axle conversion would be a "next year" upgrade. My local lake is only about 10 miles away so I should be fine with what I have(knock on wood).

All profits from boat/motor sales go toward my SS currently. My seats should be here tomorrow...I can't wait to see what my boat looks/feels like with comfy seats.

Re: 1975 Super Sport 16' boat requesting admission to the Starmada! (2nd Splash compl

Seats arrived today. I mocked up the bow/stern seats...I haven't bolted the bases down yet

The sliding seat bases I stole from another set of seats I have....are too wide to fit the mounting holes on the new seats
6C6A44F0-1A90-4D92-80DB-32003E3FA973-3359-0000038C491C4E89_zpsc1060767.jpg

So I'm going to have mount some plywood on the bottom of the seats...and then bolt the aluminum bases to the plywood.....unless someone can suggest a different way to get these bases mounted to the seats. I'll check HD and Lowes to see if they sell some kind of metal plate I can use instead of making ply bases.

I'm open to any suggestions on how to cheaply get these bases mounted to the seats.....

I'd look at maybe the cheapo cutting board material before putting ply or steel in.

If you could find a thick piece of alum at the salvage yard would be the other thought

BA - what is the gap between the mount and slider?
