Re: 1975 Super Sport 16' boat requesting admission to the Starmada! (2nd Splash compl

These are the things that need to be done.

-floatation foam (currently trying to find cheap pink/blue board on Craiglist)
-redesign bow
-relocate sliding doors
-new pedestals for bow/stern. Make(or buy) seats mounts for main seats.
-marine carpet
-Rule 1500 bilge pump

On the subject of the windshields....I need to decide on what height to make my helm seat before I can figure out how much(if any) to raise the windshields.

Watch for pedestals on sale here

They often have a fairly good deal on them.

^^^ Check the specs, I just read another thread and it listed these peds and it showed they were spec'd for 5mph and less only.

Seat & pedestals are often not rated...... That's 1 reason I like the Springfield setups, their almost always rated:

Class 'B' are fishing rated so, 5mph sounds about right...

If you find a setup at the scratch & dent you're interested in, you sometimes have to cross reference it back thru the 'normal' Springfield site to find the rating, or maybe call them.

For the helm seat the pedestal needs to be 'AD' rated, like this setup, and that includes having a rated positive mechanical LOCKING swivel &/or slide. The loosen the friction knob swivels to rotate the helm seat aren't a positive mechanical lock and isn't rated for the helm seat.

Yup...I saw that thread. The 3/4 pins are gonna be for the bow and stern casting deck seats....NOT....the main seats.

The de-construction continues...

Now that the boat is somewhat stripped down, I can start putting in the pink foam board. Went to Home Depot and bought a couple sheets to get me started.....and somehow the lady only charged me $17 bucks a sheet!!! :) I'm going to use the noodles to fill in gaps etc.

While the consoles are off, I'm going to redo the helm dash panel. I need to move the steering wheel a bit farther toward the middle of the boat. Unfortunately, the steering rack will only allow me to move it an inch or two....then it hits the side of the console.

You should have run back and bought more at $17 per sheet.

Have you considered getting a rotary unit to replace the rack? Can you angle it to get over more?

Only way I could've taken advantage of that deal, is if I told her to ring me up for 2 more sheets....I thought about it, but figured that she would've realized her mistake and rang me up at full price.

The rack system is only a year old, so I don't want to switch to a rotary unit at this point. I made up a new dash panel tonight and was able to move the steering wheel up(and over) a bit. Should work fine.....I hope. I won't do much else regarding the steering until the foam is in and the floor is down for good.

Going to fit the foam tomorrow.

Now on to the back half. Hopefully, I'll have the rest of the foam finished by tomorrow night.

Finally finished fitting all of the foam and noodles under the floor. I was able to stuff (2) 2"x4'x8' sheets of foam....and 35 noodles under there.

The front and rear sections are riveted down. Once I get the pedestal mounts bolted down to the deck...I'll rivet the middle section of the deck to the stringers.

I'll probably re-install the consoles next....and then get cracking on the bow casting deck.

Looks good. You can probably fit some more flotation behind your side panels if you do desire. I should have done that with mine.

I filled up the space under the trays and some behind the forward section on the side panels too. I figured every little bit helps.

Yup...def going to stuff foam in the side panels, under the splash well, under the gunnels etc etc. I'm hoping to get at least 3 full sheets(plus the noodles) in the boat.

Anyone know if that'll be enough to keep her afloat in the event of a swamping?

It'll be way more than OEM so I'm thinking yes.

I agree with EZ. I guess I added about 25-30% more foam than I had originally.

I have no idea how long it's been like this. According to Uflex website, it should have a 2 yr warranty...so hopefully they won't give me a hassle and simply send me a new cable.

Did your center window lie up OK, BA? Sometime a new floor throws the console height off a little.

How long have you had the Uflex? Sure hope they honor the 2 years.
