This is a better pic.

It's just a tad wider than the mounting holes

I was thinking you could get some AL strap at one of the big box stores and do something like this.

htt p://

Your second pic shows the four screw mount points better. Use strap that's the same thickness as the slider base. And some washers as spacers so the strap is even across the base. Might have to notch the base a little. I show the strap angled - that's so the base won't move around. If the strap is at right angles to the base it will tend to walk or slip. Hope this makes sense.

Seats look great. What a pain about the mounting. I'd much rather see you use some kind of metal plate as opposed to plywood.

GA, not sure about the metal strap idea.....seat mounting is a safety item and those mounts will be subjected to a lot of stress. i'd use a thick (3/8 would be plenty) hunk of aluminum, probably mild 6061.....easy to drill and countersink, strong, never corrodes, light.....hey, they should build boats out of it! oh......:embarassed:

OK - How about this? Weld some tabs or strips on the base, same thickness to widen it. I have plenty of ideas when I spend your money.

Solved the issue....found some flat bar stock the same thickness as the bracket. Mounted the flat stock to OEM mounting holes in the seat....and bolted the sliding seat bracket to the flat stock.

Now on the bolting the bow/stern seat bases to the floor.

BA - Those are nice looking seats. I like the swooshes on the head rest. Kinda sets them apart. Did the mounting trick work out OK?

Yup. I only had to use the flat bar stock on one seat. The other sliding seat bracket was different...and I was able to bolt it on without much trouble.

Bilge pump and thru-hull fitting installed today. Sealed transom bolt holes with 3M 4200. Cut side panels(going to be carpeted).

Carpet glue will be here tomorrow. Should have all carpet done by end of weekend.

Moving along, BA. Preliminary splash prediction? Won't hold you to it. The other Mobsters might, but I won't. :)

Preliminary splash prediction?

Weather permitting...I'd like to be on the water next week. I want to play around with the TNT a bit.

Re: 1975 Super Sport 16' boat requesting admission to the Starmada! (2nd Splash compl

Been trying to figure out how to fasten my main seats to the floor. Normally I use thru-bolts....but I don't know how I can do that and still be able to install the carpet. ( I don't want to cut the carpet to install under/around the bases).

I've been thinking about using lag screws (with 3/4" wood backer plate under the floor). Will they have enough bite to support the seats?

How about something like these toggles? I'm relatively sure I've seen them at HD or Lowes.

I lagged mine. Galvanized even. Nothing but top of the line on my boat! :p They're holding fine.

Glad to hear it...I really didn't want to deal with the hassle of thru-bolts.

It looks like it's all down-hill from here Bonair!

I put in wood backerboard (bonded using epoxy & powder silica); Al plate would also work...then you can use machined SS screws.

Mark the holes in the sole where the pedestals will go, then drill oversided holes through the sole stopping when you hit the backerboard (mark the depth on your drill bit).

Fill the holes with epoxy/filler and let it cure...this seals the edges of the ply better than anything.

Then drill your clearance holes through the epoxy plugs for the seat fasteners.

I bought one of those to put at the rear of the boat. Never installed it though
