The old jump seat bases. The seats were trashed but bases good. All scrubbed up. Going to hit the plywood with a light coat of stain just to even up the color form some of the small damaged areas. Then cut a piece of plywood to fit inside - they will slide underneath the new back seat for storage.

I sure am glad this thing had no structural issues - some of these resto threads I read just make me want to cry. Mine is just gut, replace surfaces, and clean.

Final batch of trim. Fifth coat on, now moved out into the sun to dry well before we move to the shed to wait on the boat return to finish re-install.

New seats in. 13" radius and got the base with a 6" adjustable slide. The helm seal only has 11.5" clearance at the steering wheel so hoping the adjustment is enough that I will be able to spin when at anchor so I can look out back.

Permission to come aboard? I love watching all the work and thought that goes into these boats!

I'm assuming those seats were purchased from Boat Seats and Pontoon Seats Custom Made for Your Boat by Veada! That's where I get all my vinyl and my previous seats in my Baja (same as those only different color scheme and only the captains chair had the flip up bolster). Now that I've covered one of the seats in my Chris Craft (17 pieces of vinyl, french seams and lots of staples later) I think I've concluded, I might just order new ones from veada earlier in the summer.

I'm assuming you know and you made the comment about the pieces of trim hiding all those staples, but you can order "Hidem Welt" from same place should you find any of those exposed!

Re: Carver 2357 Montego rebuild

Welcome.

Yessir old Jon Yoder always hooks me up; he is great at putting up with all my emails asking a bazillion questions. This is third boat I've used them for and on this one a few pages back you see where I made a bench seat over the engine cover and used the hidem (he put those pics on their facebook page). I should be good with all the wood covering - I actually removed some and will not be re-using so if I make a mistake I've got spare. I like being able to ensure all the color scheme matches all thru the boat.

Look closely - they both have the flip up bolster. I do a lot of standing in this thing.

Decided to recover the cockpit panels next to the seats so yesterday ordered more vinyl and added some carpet - going to make a snap in carpet piece.

ok then working from home today.

IMG_20140213_101852_884.jpg

you are looking at the closet, from the inside. The smaller opening is the front, what you will see once re-installed. It had a pole for hangars but we do not plan on using as a hanging closet - had one on the Hole and only kept 2 sweat jackets in there. What I've decided to do is put three shelves in. One at the very bottom, one midway and one a bit higher that you would think - the opening will only be a couple inches but the top will allow about 7" clearance. Good for stuffing clothes and towels. Middle shelf for food, bottom whatever.

I'm going to cut them all the way tot he back so won't lose anything. Will need to get some wood to face the front of the shelf for a lip to keep from sliding out. Think just a curtain to cover the opening.

I've got the bottom shelf in, on a conference call now will post completed pics before the day is over.

heh, yup, do what you gota do right? As long as she doesn't look at your posts on iboats...

i have the exact same 'wall paper' covering in my bayliner, and its got a big ugly water stain at the bottom.. I think I might copy you there, and just remove completely and recover with new material.. although its likely a job that will wait till next winter, I already have MORE than enough to do to get it ready to splash this coming summer

I couldn't for the life of me figure what "throttle body" injection system that's from...then it struck me...it's from the throttle handle (binnacle), not an TBI system! Strong work...I, unlike you, am not smart enough to pull stunts like using the oven when the wife's not home, I do stuff tlike that when she's home and spend a lot of time saying sorry and explaining why it cheaper if I do it myself (usually still expensive, however!...you should see our spare bedroom in the basement...looks like a homeless person has invaded!

Re: Carver 2357 Montego rebuild

Yeah my wifes car has barely fit in our garage for almost a year now (sometimes not at all) and the new seat are in the livingroom right now. She's so ready for this to be done. Might pull the boat to a meeting I'm having in Destin FL early next month so trying to be ready by then, if not for sure splash date is weekend of March 29th.

Third cup of coffee, about to get second coat of black on the throttle thingie whatever its called, and going to move the top shelf of the new closet down a hair - its about and inch too high cant get my arm all the way in.
