I'm leaning towards just oil. Never has had any finish on it why start now?

Try this and see what you think. Tablespoon of Boiled Linseed Oil (Or Tung Oil), 2 Tablespoons of Mineral Spirits, Tablespoon of the Varnish of your choice. Mix well and rub on. I think you'll be amazed. This will seal and protect the wood LONG TERM.

I sanded the window frames as there was water damage but the rest is just kinda dirty. How to clean and with what?

Re: Carver 2357 Montego

ok - the 'wallpaper' on the head door that had turned loose came of easy. The rest of it...

Thinking - not sure I want to put a mirror on and of course no good looking wood underneath even if I felt like trying to remove the rest. What about a piece of luan (floor underlayment) glued to the panel, stained to match the rest of the wood?

I really thought I was going to have to replace these they were so nasty. 30 minutes with paint thinner and some glass top stove cleaner they look almost brand new.

Re: Carver 2357 Montego

thanks. Off to the shop where's she's getting some work done - it's inside there and it's cold here and I can't get in my garage.

bow rail stanchions reset
kicker motor bracket installed
depth finder installed
new (wireless remote) spotlight installed
sink faucet installed
new back windows put on

I'm going to get measurements for the bedding foam I'll need and to make sure I have clearance for the new helm seats I want. In my garage I have all the wood and that is my project next few weeks as well as replacing the 'wallpaper' with 1/4" foam backed vinyl.

and the 'entry label'. Didn't polish it up - I like the old brass look.

Re: Carver 2357 Montego

think I'm going to order these today. They have a flip up bolster, only a 13" radius. And getting the slide so adjustable 6". Customer colors to match the bench seat.

Re: Carver 2357 Montego

On the door to the head, I pulled off the 'wallpaper' and have been thinking on what to replace. Didn't want any mirror - there is already one on the other side of the door in the head. So i decide to put on the same headliner material as the new headliner.
