It does! As an afterthought that's a good reason to do it! Being an amateur glasser means it wasn't all smooth and perfect. It looks much nicer now. I used bilge coat. I got a gallon for my transom and bilge, and figured there's no need to hang on to 3/4 of a gallon till I might need it again.

For my 2x2 ledgers I want to install on my stringers to screw my decking to, could a bead of 5200 and clamping them for a few hours be sufficient, or should I screw and 5200 them to the stringers? (Predrilling and filling screw holes of course)

Since you painted, probably ought to use mechanical fasteners too. 5200 would be adhered to the paint not the stringer, and takes quite a while to cure, much more then overnight. IMHO

Epoxy I would trust by itself, 5200 I don't think I'd trust. I'd use screws with 5200.

Alright guys. That's the answer I expected. I have half a gallon of epoxy, but I plan to use that for the underside of the deck. I was gonna use pl, but I'm not all that impressed with it.

Re: dixie hustler "deck job" (turned full rebuild)

Barring some sort of unforeseen something or another, I should get the deck templated, cut, and screwed in place next week. I'm looking for any tips for templating the deck. I've mulled over two ways. Take measurements every 10" or so from the straight stringers or bulkheads the respective deck pieces will rest on, then use these to draw it out. Then I've thought about cutting the piece roughly to shape a few inches larger than where it should go, then scribing the contour of the hull shape with a compass or a board with a marker attached to it. Cut the contour, then on the other side cut the straight edge of the stringer where the seam will be. Or perhaps some combination of the two? Tips or tricks welcome!

Anyone else ever get this much done, but still feel taken aback at how much is still left to do!?

Make your template out of cardboard and cut to fit, then trace the outline to the plywood and cut it.

I have pink foam insulation board already for the job, but perhaps I can find some cardboard to do it with.

I used the pink foam board to make templates. Worked great!

Cardboard is cheaper than foam board, also more manageable. You can lay the cardboard on the stringers and fold the edges up the sides, then trim with a utility knife where the cardboard meets the hull. When you get the cardboard trimmed the way you like it transfer it to the foam and cut for your plywood template if you want... or just use the cardboard template for the plywood and use the foam somewhere else.

My dad had a big sheet of cardboard at his house for me, but I forgot to stop at his house and pick it up on my way home from work yesterday. It was enough to at least save from cutting up some of the insulation. But oh well, I used the pink foam board and it worked out pretty well. I used my radius roller I bought for glass work to scribe the shape to the foam. I taped the marker to the handle side and laid it over for the rolly end to roll along the hull sides after cutting out the foam to a square shape the was close. I would love to get the deck cut and screwed down tomorrow and begin tabbing it in!

After looking at a bare hull, even a pink foam deck looks pretty good, doesn't it?

I'm working on coating the underside with epoxy now. I have the first coat done and I'm working on small odds and ends I've been putting off in between coats :/.

How long should I let it dry between coats? I got the 3:1 and it is listed as 3-4 hour dry time. Can I recoat before that complete dry time has elapsed? And then I'm guessing I wait 3-4 hours before gluing and screwing it to the stringers?

Here is what I'm attempting for drainage. It may not help anything, but t sure won't be any worse than doing nothing.

I rubbed grease on them and taped them down. I hope the tape keeps them in place while the foam sets and I'll be able to pull them out.

Floor looks strong enough ta dance on ! :)
Just a thought .. Might better tape the rope down continuously . I would think the foam would lift it off the bottom when it expands.

Re: dixie hustler "deck job" (turned full rebuild)

I started to. Then I thought it could potentially create a seal water wouldn't penetrate, just like putting a pipe in. I know that's a slim chance of the tape actually sealing off that well though. I have screwed down the two sternmost pieces, so can't do anything about that, but I may tape a solid run over it tomorrow since someone else thought it might help too. I read all the jazz about most drainage plans being futile, but I figured there was no point in not trying anything.

Please make a video of pulling the weep ropes out!

The rope weeps won't hurt anything... they may not do much good, but they won't hurt a thing.
