All right! You'll enjoy it.

We just purchased an 1989 24" Mallard off craigslist. Nothing beats camping with central heat and an indoor flush toilet, when it's 38 degrees. ;)

Did you get a load-leveling hitch? They are worth their weight in gold, when pulling a trailer.
The down side is that they are painfully expensive buying them new.

We have a load leveler hitch and anti sway bars from our old trailer we had about 15 years ago. Still in good shape. Kept hold of them just in case and glad we did.
Tranny cooler (good for 10,000 lb) apparently. Not that we will ever tow that amount and the brake controller are installed so we are ready to go.

Re: Just bought a Travel Trailer.

No secrets, Craigslist and Ebay had tickets for last week's game at or near face value. Many ticket holders are looking to make back some dough for their PSL costs. Check out CL New York/ Long Island for Oct 17 game against the Lions.

Next Spring I will be selling my personal vessel (never gets much use since I started commercial fishing and fishing at work) to make room for a new toy. Wife loved camping when we started out. I'm thinkin' trailer also to go exploring now and again. Something to investigate over the winter.

My son will be scanning e-bay for tickets. With any luck we may get to the Detroit game.

Re: Just bought a Travel Trailer.

Should have mentioned, we took it for a 20 mile or so test tow. You sure know it's there but it did a great job. No overdrive used, a few hills that we could find in the "flatlands" that we live in. We certainly won't be crossing mountain ranges with it.
I checked out the Trailblazer / Envoy forum before considering this weight and many folk are towing up to and over the 6,000 lb mark with them. Depending on axle ratio and 4wd or 2 wd the Trailblazers are rated for up to 6,400lb

Sounds like a lot of fun coming up ... happy for you and family. You mentioned "no overdrive" so do you limit your speed or RPM ? Have a great Thankgiving and enjoy ...

Was doing 100kmh on the highway. RPM O.K. 80 kmh on the main roads no problem. We are picking it up for real in the morning then heading off for the weekend. Will post my findings on my return.

Re: Just bought a Travel Trailer.

Cottage is a 5.5 hour drive away and is a little much for 2 night weekends. It is also fixed in place !!!!
With this we can get around some different places when and if we feel like and have it seasonal a couple of hours from home with the boat for the "Friday after work till Sunday late" thing.
This should make every spring, summer and fall weekend a weekend away.:D:D

Sounds like a sweet lifestyle ... although I dont need a portable home .. I wish I would ... LOL

Re: Just bought a Travel Trailer.

Congrats Ken! Looks just like my 2007 Coachmen but i bit lighter.

You probably already picked it up but i would have the rubber roof cleaned and treated.
Hopefully the dealer took care of that.
It needs it at least twice a year on the EPDM rubber roof membrane.
Keeps the black streaks off the sides too...;)

Re: Just bought a Travel Trailer.

Well we just got back from our weekend. Had an amazing time. We just love the trailer. Gary, the roof was serviced before we picked it up. Trailblazer towed it really well. Main highway we kept to 60 mph (100 kmh) at 2,500 RPM in "3". On the main roads with 50 MPH (80 KPH) speed limits we were at 2,000 RPM in "3" Did not use overdrive at all. Kicked down to "2" on a couple of hills and wound the RPM up a bit but overall I was very impressed with the towing performance of the Trailblazer.
Took a lot of photos and will post them when I get a chance.
Thanks to all for the good wishes.

Re: Just bought a Travel Trailer.

NICE! How was your first time cleaning out the poop tank?
My hose popped off on me the first time....YUCK! Blue poo went everywhere!

It was the cheapo hose kit the dealer through in...I have upgraded since then.
I always fill my waste tanks full of fresh water about 3 times before leaving the campground then open the valve to flush everything good.

Glad they cleaned the roof at the dealer. I use the Dicor roof products and my 2007 still beads the water but i have to treat it every 3 months....

Good looking rig! Glad you are getting some use out of it already.;)
