Re: My Muffler Bearing Finally Went Out

But he's from California, with all of the smog related rules and the newly required use of the non-cylindrical transflutter exhaust recycler, they are using the new style pellersty tubes. So he has to use the automotive version. Whew, that was a close one;).

I got news for you Thad........ Those pellersty tubes are also proprietary in form factor, and for about the same price as a marine grade bearing.
And........ the new bearing for the pellersty tubes has a different rockwell hardness than the automotive version, and will not work on older motors.
So..........you are still stuck with purchasing the bearing that will work only with marine applications. Only the newer 2025 versions will accommodate the pellersty version.
Some dude named Arnold told me this......

If my boat is listing to starport while on the plane, will it affect the flow of magnetronium thru pellestry tube?

Sounds like your candle adapter is on the starport side. Relocate it to the portstar side.

But you might have to change the quastreal valve to 82 1/2 deg. as it might interfere with the oil bypass.

Re: My Muffler Bearing Finally Went Out

i have exciting news! For the people who have older style exhaust systems, pertronix is in the process of finalizing the r&d on their muffler bushing to muffler bearing conversion kits! Their top guy, professor hasent ben-sobar has spent countless hours in the lab perfecting the conversion process. The leaked installation documents make the process sound very simple. Here's the procedure;

step 1 use a pick axe, or some other suitable pointy tool to access your muffler bushing.
Step 2 remove your bushing, and inspect it for wear. Do not use a muffler bushing that is looser than the factory recommended .00000000234 tolerance.
Step 3 use the enclosed file to create a chamfer on the outside edge of the bushing, again being sure not to exceed the .00000000234 tolerance.
Step 4 install the enclosed roller bearings and cage, being sure to liberally lube them with the enclosed sperm whale grease.
Step 4 1/8 install the modified assembly back into your vehicles muffler.
Step 5 install the enclosed oil line from the axillary oil plug of the hydrosolator pump to the enclosed plastic baggy that surrounds the assembly.
Step 6 open a can of your favorite malt based beverage, and consume approximately 13/16 of it before proceeding to step 7.
Step 7 carefully cover the hole you made in the muffler with the pick axe, using the enclosed bondo based goo. Hopefully you only made a 3" by 2" hole, like we should have specified in step 1 (whoops).
Step 8 start the engine and let it idle for approximately 3 days (longer if a leap year). During that period, the bearings should either seat correctly, or fly out the exhaust tip (in that case pick up the pieces, and start again at step 1).

Remember to never raise your engines rpm above 2000 while your kit is installed! Observing this warning will guarantee many weeks of trouble free enjoyment.

And as always, our pertronix bear 2 bush kits come with the hassle free start warranty. Your warranty is good till you start your engine!

I don't wanna **** anybody off but I'm trying to save money, Can I use an Automotive Muffler Bearing in a Marine application? I live in California, if that helps.....:D

NO! They are know to cause cancer in certain parts of 3d world countries and California has outlawed them!

I disagree. You CAN use the summer blend. But ONLY if you use the double back loop inverted left handed screw driver with the rubber tip.

And I thought the candle adapter went under the back seat on the port side to allow room for the optional water cooled turbo charger overflow reservoir.:D

Thad, you are correct however as you know that tool is a very rare special tool.

Very few would have the resources to have one in there possession. So after 400 years in the automotive business I came up with this revamped procedure for the average 202 IQ person to perform. IF you have one then by all means do it your way.

AS far as the candle adapter REMEMBER, The overflow was experimental and after it kept snuffing out the candles they revamped the reservoir and moved it to the left rear wheel inner tube.
I heard a few tests were done with the adapter in the under seat position but the ladies kept getting blusters on their rear ends when seat friction limits were exceeded.

Limited-Time I think the change over is 20.

BlkY2k you must have had a earlier version because that small turbo shown fit with room to spare.

Dave Barnett THat is something i did not know!! LIKE OMG!!! But wouldn't you have to install the T/Stat updside down ?????
This is like wicked good info.

A lot of replies on your question fishy, but none of them are quite right.

If you use an automotive muffler bearing, you are sure to suck water into the engine, reversion. If you look at DonS's picture of an automotive muffler bearing, it's completely smooth in the center, where the exhaust flows. A "marine" muffler bearing had spiraled protrusions (think fan) in the center, which when spun up at high RPM, continue to spin at low RPM and prevent resonance reversion.

Now the real problem comes in, how are you going to replace the marine muffle bearing? It's right in the center of the riser's turn, you can't see it unless you poke a mirror up in there, so how are you going to replace it. You have to replace the whole riser! Just another fine example of why marine parts are so much more expensive than automotive.....

Good thing they have winterizing splintz on sale at autozone then..

Quick story, my good buddy collects deloreans. The switch that rools the windows went out, he replaced it, then after the repair his stereo was intermittently working, he asked me if I would look at it. I do Vinyl decals signs etc. so I said sure. when he was not looking I made a Flux capacitor decal for his back window. he said the car SERIOUSLY has never run better since I put it there...

I guess before that it was very temperamental

and for the guy that had the big turbo.. I thought a blower would work better..

BIG BLOWER Problem is the Domflatchey keep breaking on me.

Thats import smoke, and can not be used in domestic applications with out the addition of some international transinduceing molecular inhibitor. FWIW cross contaminating wiring harness smoke will depreciate the value of it.

WOW! I had no idea! I will make sure I don't cross contaminate the two, if I can ever find them.
