Here is a picture of the current set up on the motor.

The pully system I have on is alright but needs to be fully replaced new wire, pullys, springs ect...

So I would rather put in a push pull steering system but have no clue on how to attatch it to the motor..? Any help on how to set it up would be greatly apreacated.

Thanks Fuzzey

Re: Need a New steering setup

you maybe able to adapt to single cable steering system from teleflex marine and since the particular motor you have does not have a tilt tube teleflex marine sell a transom mount tilt tube that the single steering cable would mount to. as far as connecting the cable to your motor that is easily done with a clevis. below are some links to all the products that i have mentioned.

Not really sure if it is possible to add a tilt tube to your motor, could you tell me the make and model of your motor?

you cannot add a tilt tube, but you could do this.

is your steering wheel on the port or starboard side. a teleflex rack or rotary system would work fine, you would need the steering link from cable to motor.

Where did you buy it from? If its off the internet can you send me a link?

you could also replace the cable and necessary pulleys, i boats has the parts,

This is true I did see that i boats has the parts but I prefer push pull steering to pully steering mostly because of the maintence. I also have to replace virtually all the parts from the drum to the springs.

the early motor did not have tilt tubes, they did not come about until the mids 70's.
