Nice looking rig, congrats.

Make sure you have insurance on it (with glass coverage). I have a friend that bought a Formula that looks similar to your style. It has a curved windshield section like yours does. He never got insurance and over the winter a branch fell and cracked a pane on his windshield.

Formula wanted $12,000 to replace the curved glass

My boat showed no signs of stress cracks on the outside of the transom at all. However if you look at my thread, you'll see how right of the transom really was. There is a chance and you just had a bad transom seal, and that is what started the whole thing. I think we should wait until the Marina tells you what's wrong before we jump to any more conclusions. We are freaking this guy out!

Yeah you guys are! But it's ok, I understand. I'm going to call the Marina tomorrow and make sure they drop it in the water tomorrow. I can't wait any longer. Plus, I need to get started on fixing it.

I need my boat!

Marina is busy. They said they are going to try to drop it in the water tomorrow morning.

I can't stand this waiting.

I winder when they are going to start treating you with respect. I would be HOT if they kept saying they are busy. Why can't they be busy with your boat?

Re: New to me bowrider, have some questions...

they are just jerking you around..... they aren't worried about helping you because they have plenty of paying customers to rip off..... er help.....

If you have a flexible enough schedule.... ask them what time they will be doing it and tell them "OK I'll see you then"

Then go stand there and wait.... While it is hard to prove, they DID make several claims about the condition of the boat and a judge might see things your way.... You need to make them understand that it is in their best interest to make this right and NOW.... Also they need to pay for parts and labor.

Yep. They are just hoping you will get fed-up and come get your boat and take it somewhere else to be repaired, then they can wash their hands of it.

I know. Frisco, I've been watching a lot of your video's, especially the transom part. I really don't want to spend my summer doing that. I'm still hoping it's something else, but I just really don't know.

It sucks that they are 1:40 away from me each way. I guess it would be smart for me to be there while they water test it though, huh?

Do you think I should be on the boat with the when they water test it? I mean, how could they say no, right? It is my freaking boat.

BTW, I am trying very hard to keep my cool. But at this point, blowing up at them isn't going to get me anywhere. I'm hoping if I treat them with respect, they'll return the favor.

I will say on their defense, they are 30 minutes away from the nearest boat ramp. That being said, they should make more of an effort.

I'm going to wait to see what you guys have to say before I call them.

Didn't you say they've already told you that the repairs are on you?.... If so it's time to get serious. I don't think this dealer has your best interest in mind and I wouldn't put it past them to cover up a serious problem with silicone and send you on your way....

Yes of course you should be there when they test it.

Well, I wasn't dealing with the owner who sold it to me. That was grandpa telling that to the head mechanic, who I was talking to. Family run marina.

I didn't think of a cover up. I'll call them.

They are actually water testing the boat right now. I'm actually glad I didn't go down there. It would have shot my entire afternoon. If I don't finish this kitchen back splash before my in-laws get here, I'll be sleeping in my sinking boat.

I'll let you know what they find. Keep your fingers crossed! Back to the wet saw for now.

Check the "buyer's remorse" laws in your state. Even though it's technically yours now, you may be able to leverage the fact that you have X days to give it back.

Re: New to me bowrider, have some questions...

Just got off the phone with the marina. The backed the boat into the water, left it on the trailer and even ran the engine for 15 minutes. They didn't get a drop of water. Nothing. So they dropped the bow in and all of a sudden, water started pouring in. They think it must be a plastic drain hose, or fitting or something that has cracked.

I honestly can't think of what it could be, but they said they are going to bring it back and figure out exactly which one it is and fix it tomorrow morning.

MAN DO I FEEL BETTER! Of course, I can't help but to think of the water dripping down the transom. Then again, I was by myself, and by the time I was able to stick my head in the bilge, there was already a ton of water back there. So, maybe it was just from splashing around.

Anyhoo..........no rebuilding rotted transoms for me! I just wouldn't have thought about it coming from the bow anywhere. Never even crossed my mind.

I guess I can finally sleep again. They are also checking out the steering for me. I guess that's thing to worry about. I don't know what could cause 1/8 turn steering wheel play, but I hope it's nothing too serious.

Anyway, thank you everyone. I'll let post what they end up finding.

well, i guess that's a step in a better direction... tho i don't have a clue what could be causing the leak. I seem to remember someone posting that the water could be coming from anywhere. don't remember the poster but kudos to him. haha ;)

all kidding aside, don't get too happy until you know exactly what's causing the problem tho... sorry to rain on the parade but boats will always get back at you when you least expect it.

You know, reading this thread was honestly like reading a suspenseful novel. Is it wrong to say I am kind of disappointed it wasn't the transom? LOL hope its not anything too serious :)

Sounds like good news...but I'm puzzled......what is in the boat that drains water requiring a thru hull fitting that is leaking? A sink?...live well? (not a fishing boat)...I'm puzzled.

Re: New to me bowrider, have some questions...

Man are you guys a buzz kill. You are right though. I asked him what drain could it be. He didn't know, but was confident it was something simple.

I only had this boat for a grand total of 6 days, so I don't know where all the drains and everything are, but I do know that everything is above the water line.

So, what could it be then. Let's say it is in the back of the boat, why would no water come in while on the trailer, but water come gushing in only when the bow was lowered? Remember, I filled the bilge with water in my driveway and couldn't get any water to drip at all.

Besides just a couple of tiny dings, this is the only damage on the entire hull that I've found. There's no way this little thing could let that much water in, right? This is on the bottom

It's located on one of the chines on the right side of the boat towards the front.

Yeah it is wrong! :)

I guess the suspense is still building in your novel. I just hope the hero wins.
