Re: oddjobs troll returns
KRS has not played in the desert at night much nor been treatred for the infectious "oucies" that result.
20 years ago or so in the reagan admin it had a solution, now I dont see one.
does something have to be done? yes, but not any pandering 6 year into it kneejerk stuff.
knee jerk got us into the current debacle.
and for ouchies, I was chashing a rabbit some years back and jumped a log and had a 3" or so mesquite thorn punture my boot sole and piece the bone in my right heel. had to be surgically removed and the infection was nasty.
what I am trying to say is almost all my friends that quit active duty and entered the guard then have spent 1 year or better in Iraq are tired, they have no desire to rotate to southwestern US. they all did their active duty sacrifice and now did it again.
none complain but most will leave when there current enlistment is up.
one did 2 tours in vietnam and has been texas air national guard for almost 15 years, he is a medic, got a wife, had a job, got kids, one graduated while he was in the mideast. he is done.
he says its not what he signed up for.
he says if he wanted to remain active duty he would have never left the army in the first place.
the gaurd servive in king georges time was reserved for the elite that did not wish to fight, unless it was in a bar, the gaurd today is tasked with taking up the slack wherever in the world.
however most did not join to be deployed 12 months or more at a time.
so sooner or later a decision has to be made.
and KRS the age requiremnt to join the Guard is rather high, have ya chatted with your recuiter ?
