Re: oddjobs troll returns

yep, there goes the 9 dollars I was gonna get back on my tax cut check.
more of the same.
what a stupid speech. 18 min of wasted air time.
I dont have any issues with putting the national guard on the border as a temporary measure, however its not looking very temporary and if king george actually wanted to he could have done it 6 years ago. so far his plan looks good on paper, its the same plan reagan passed and we all have witnessed its effectiveness.
wonder how those guys are gonna like camping in the desert for a few months knowing all they can do is yell halt.
can they do it? yes of that I am confident. will it be a retention and morale booster? of that I am not so sure.
but yep one thing is sure, we are in for more of the same.

Nicole Wallace was on Hardball last nite, trumpeting the speech, but when asked, she had no idea when it was going to be possible to implement the untamperable ID cards with the biometric feature.

All this National Guard stuff is just whistling in the wind until you can get a handle on who is hiring who, what their legal status is, and put serious penalties on those that knowingly hire illegals. There is no way to implement that now, because forged documents are so easily obtained, and difficult to verify.

This speech was much ado about nothing, as expected.

Re: oddjobs troll returns

We are using the national guard cause we can hire the border patrol agents fast enough and dont have the money to pay them. Cheaper to send the guard.

But, what POs me is this should have been done on 9/12/01.

Why did this suddenly become a problem?

Why do we worry about Mexico's concerns that we are militarizing the border?

Catching more illigals crossing just means they will have to try 5 times to cross before they make it, it wont stem the tide.

Need to get rid of the carrot as one other poster said.

Ken

Re: oddjobs troll returns

Sorry guys but I actually agree with Bush on the illegals becoming legal.

It is our fault that we left the door open so the desperate could run inside. It is also our fault we made the legal immigration process so tedious and lenghty that people realized it is easier just to come on over.

We can try to kick them out, but that would cost us even more money and get rid of an important source of labor.

We should get these folks to enter the legalization process ASAP. Get them paying taxes.

Secure the borders first.
Start legalization process for those that play nice.

Best solution to a bad situation.

Ken

Dont turn this into a repub vs demo thing.

Both parties are truly pathetic on this issue.

Do you really thing a democratic presidents would have done any better on this issue? Lets ask Clinton?

Ken

Rock on Ken......seems to be both parties ing the past didnt give a rip........so now that the current one does something it should be seen as a move in the right direction....... Oh and your probably right there is little we can do about those here now.......but if we close the borders and hit anybody hiring an illegal with huge fines, its my guess that things will shape up one way or the other.

I have not done a whole lot of freshwater fishing. A lot of trout in creeks etc. and I troll for striper every once a while to get the kids a quick fish.

I used to fish on the Pacific a lot and we troll for Albacore, Bluefin, Yellowfin etc even Bonito. We use big "Feather Jigs" to bring the schools up. I guess i have always called a trolled lure a Jig because of that . . . I had no idea you guys east of here always called them a lure. I guess I do know how to "jig" a lure though. Hmmmmmm . . .

I must be getting paranoid but that speech looked like a diversionary tactic to me, notice that the main part of the speech had him sending in the guard but as an aside, was this little part about limited immunity.HMmm

Re: oddjobs troll returns

DO you really think they will go home? You gonna pay for the round up?

Even if we cut off all free stuff and prevent them from getting jobs, their life would still be better here in the USA rather than go back home.

Where are you going to get the labor we need? It is low unemployment now. The lazy citizens wont work no matter how much money they offer.

You gotta make it a win win or we will all lose.

Ken

That is a euphemism for cheap employers wont pay legal wages. Nuke the border.

Which is it? Americans are too lazy to work, or we all have jobs?

How about the companies that are breaking the law hiring the illegals pay the costs of deportation?
