Re: Opening day for permit shotgun deer season NJ
We have Cayotes here < misspelled i bet.
Who would have believed it in the most populated state.
And when i was scouting the new piece of property that by the way is a 1/4 miles away from my house, i swear i saw a bob cat.
So i whip out the hunting regulation book and sure enough they ask for you to call in any sightings of bob cats.
So i call it in, and leave a message, as i return the phone to the cradle it rings.
I speak to sec. of the assistant director of the fish and wildlife state agency, she says will i hold?
I said sure, Dave Chanda, who i met before says they are all over Jersey but first he heard they are in the area i hunt.
I asked can i shoot them, he said only if i want to be bunk mates with bubba at the state pen.
No shooting bob cats.
I never take a camera but he says if i got a pic of one in the wild they will put it next year in the mag they put out.
The funny thing i've seen giant cat prints on my property, bigger than my hand, i thought, i saw a flash of a big, big cat when i came out my garage a few times.
Fox big, big fox are all over my place. But a bob cat jeez, i don't put my little hot dog, dog outside on the zip line anymore, without me there with her.
And hawks all over, tried to get my dog one time.
Monday is opening day for regular shotgun season.
And i've seen the one. My whole life i've been waiting for this one, and he got cousins just as big.
Just never could get to where there was legal hunting near my place till this year.
Living right next door to me is a doctor, and a lawyer, and i helped them with a bunch of stuff, but i know if i took a shot anywhere near my place, they would be the first one to call the cops.
Good luck people hope you bag the buck of a lifetime, and he's there somewhere.
Never in the history of the US has there been a better chance to pop the one.
I read last year hunters donated more than 3 million pounds of meat to the needy.
Thats alot of people not going hungry in this country.
Thats just deer meat.
What about money we donate ?
So when someone says ewww you hunt, smile and say, "yes i hunt , i'm proud to carry on a time honored tradition".
I'm also proud to have passed on that tradition to my children, and hopefully they will pass it to theres.
My son yesterday did most of the work butchering the deer. He's 16.
I did what i'm finding out is a great job, supervising.
I'm rambling better end this post or the mods will get me.
