My winter project is to catch more and bigger Striped Bass than I did last winter. :D

Summer is boat repair time.

That's Awsome. I would love to be able to boat year round! Maybe sometime in my life I will be able to move to such a location!

Re: So What's Everyone's Winter Projects???

Well I hope to have 3... Right now I just have 2 which aren't so much projects, ok ok I'm sugar coating they are projects, I have a console for my boat that needs to be installed and also fitting a new steering cable and figure out a seating arrnagement, but after the cable fix it's completely lake ready and will be used most likely for quite some time before I get actual seats in it, fold up chairs work great lol. The second is getting my 77 kawasaki z 650 running and legal, It has at least a fried regulator and possibly a new rectifier fried as well, partially due to my hurridness and sht's... The getting it legal part requires waiting periods and some mailing to prev owners to get the title but once that is done then it will be done, but only in a sense that I can ride it all stock. Which I have some intention to do until I have the cash to make it a one of a kind cafe bike. Then the 3rd which is what I am hoping ofr is that I can find a mid 80's to 93 grand wagoneer, the 4 wheel drive bug has been itching a lot lately lol and other than that I think I'm project free lol

Taking my Spectrum 1700 down to the hull.
Fixing/replacing/sealing all leaking rivits. (theres a bunch of them)
Then building it back up with a new floor, new front deck, new carpet and selling it in the spring.
I think Im going to do a restoration thread on it to show off my "Handywork".

Does sound like a restoration thread is in order Tim, sounds like you should have a busy winter! Stay warm and keep posted on the progress.

I need to finish my new bathroom and turn the old one into a 1/2 bath, and closet for my daughters room. Then my wife will allow me to replace the floor in the 71 Aquasport 19' I just bought. I will also be working on my 72 Land Cruiser. Should be a fun winter. Im sure I'll have more additions on the "honey do list" as well.

Re: So What's Everyone's Winter Projects???

I just bought 3 outboards + fuel lines and tanks for 300$. 1 '77 Evinrude 6 HP and 2 Johnson 7,5HP between 1981-83.

My plans are to fix them and if they work well, resale them for a good price, I am getting pretty good in outboard mechanics. Here in Canada, many people overprice their used outboard.

I started to work on the 6 HP and so far it's worth it, I'll put in a new impeller and a new carb kit, low speed is a little rough. It has a decent compression (85-90 PSI)

On both 7.5 HP which I haven't started working on yet, one has no fire on 1 cylinder (coil?), good compression and the 2nd one is partially in parts (carb, fuel pump, head cover, air silencer are off the motor.

When I search on boats.net, there are some parts from my first 4.5HP that fits on the 7.5 HP.

Also my Johnson 4.5 HP will have new cover decals and a paint job.

Hi guys:

I'm in the process of building a new house, so sadly my boat has to spend the winter alone! I'll be helping my friend John put a new deck in his boat. We took the cap off today ready to remove the deck.

Re: So What's Everyone's Winter Projects???

The 1975 18 foot Starbuck jet boat in my profile pic, I need to rewire everything.
I already bought a new one wire Marine Alternator to prevent sparks near the saddle tank, and a Perko on off switch for the battery.
Want to make the wiring bullet proof, since the motor is completly rebuilt.
I need to buy a few items for the wiring hook up's, like a new fuse block and circuit breaker for the # 8 size wires to the dash from the battery to finish up purchasing the right items.
I have already purchased Marine tinned # 8 AWG for the new alternator wiring, two rolls of # 10 AWG Marine tinned wire in red and black - 100 feet of each, and a 54 foot Marine wiring harness from ebay to scavange out for extra colored wiring that has several sizes of marine tinned wire.
Just need some good advice for components so it will be a good solid electrical system.
