Re: Squirrel Deterrent

ROFL! Thank you. I usually don't laugh that hard, but a mental picture of that made me crack up loud.

My friend used to have a cat. One day someone kidnapped his cat and shaved its back in a funny way that stuck out. Being a big cat person, I laughed for a long time; after all the cat wasn't harmed.

Had a neighbor [somewhat twisted]. would spray paint em orange thru the trap and release em, so he found out some distance is required cuz some would show back up.[not me].
If you cant repel em........ relocate em maybe........

Sauteed squirrel and woodchuck?

Isn't chicken like, the cheapest meat in the world? We resort to eating vermin? Ewww.

I would hate to think what would happen if you catch your neighbor messing with your boat!!! :D

While the urine idea is a good one, be careful with that stuff. One of my favorite pranks from my youth was putting a drop or two on a 2" piece of cardboard and taping it to the underside of an office chair. Place would stink for a week after I took pity and removed the cardboard. I'd hate to think how much that odor could soak into fabric/carpet over a winter season.

No critter problems because one of my cats crawls up under the cover and spends a lot of time in the boat. Not sure why he does it, but I'm not going to complain!

A .22 shell costs me about two cents.

Thats the expensive way to eat squirrel. You can make a sling shot out of your underwear and a stick. Grab a rock and you got dinner.

If you like chicken, you will like squirrel. It's very good.

What works as good as urine and is more sanitary, is household ammonia. For 2 bucks at the grocery store, I much preferred it. I used it to convince momma racoon to vacate my cottage attic with family in tow ( overnight I might add) in the spring. Used it last week to move a family of squirrels out of my chimney. A small amount on an old rag does the trick.

12 guage. Aim for the head. Easier to clean. Fry in flour/egg mix. Tasty.

Re: Squirrel Deterrent

So eating possum, crow, and raccoon are out of the question?

YES!!! Good God, yes!! Out of the question. Where do you draw the line? Rodents, vermin, insects? Chicken, pork, beef, fish are all plentiful and tasty. I've had buffalo, ostrich, rattlesnake, alligator, and a host of other animals. But, I'm not eating rats or anything that looks like it belongs in the rat family.

Maybe we can start eating lizards, bats, monkeys, and even the stray dog. I see other cultures on TV eating tarantulas, animal brains, rotten fish, and poisonous critters...but that doesn't mean it makes sense!

Re: Squirrel Deterrent

i used a live animal trap, caught a groundhog, and called the local animal control officer to take it away. The groundhog died before the guy arrived. He threatened to have me charged with cruelty to animals. Poison and burying them is better.

Instead, bait them into a paper shopping bag, fold the top over 3-4 times, place it in a wooded area and then beat the crap out of it with a spatula until it stops squealing.:D
