Re: Vaseline + orbital buffer = a good idea?

Im not trying to restart the vas argument, this question in for the users of the stuff and their experiences with it, could I use an orbital buffer with a terry cloth cover with the vaseline? Is this a viable option or am I missing something? I did a test area with the vas and it seemed to work wonders on my old paint, but it seems like not much fun trying to do the whole thing by hand.... Any thoughts or previous experiences with a buffer would be helpful... Thanks yall!

No problem with this thread myself.. I basically have no comment .. because its directed to the V users Only .. and I personally have NO problem with other Iboats members researching other ways of doing things .. ( Good disclaimer on the "restart argument" ). You Obviously know of the heated arguments .. good research IMHO ..

I would think that Hand rub on would be better then orbital .. then the " off " might be better than the hand with the power .. I really do not know for sure ..

oh gawd......here we go

Not unless Members do not respect the OP .. hes not trying to battle ground V VS. other ways.

No, no, no... I just need to know if the orbital buffer is a viable option as opposed to hand application, my mind is already made up... Im using the stuff, bottom line ..

Thats whats nice about Iboats .. Many ways to do things to complete your objective. This is your choice and I will help as much as I can ( Shh.. Dont tell anyone :) ) .

Yall can go ahead and close this thread now... Thanks....

Na .. I would like this one to live actually .. I see no reason to close this thread. A legitimate question with some ( I hope ) good answers.

You can hand rub vasoline, or you can orbital buff it in, or you can apply it with your feet, it doesn't really matter... No matter how you do it, it is a temporary fix... Good luck and enjoy the temporary shine...

No disregard to ya ingalp01 .. but have you tried the V thing yourself ? .. or is this a band wagon ( just wondering .. because your post sounded like a "been there done it" ). .. Yes you are correct on the temp thing.. but do you have experience behind your post ? .. just wondering..

yes....we do read your posts.....and actually there is three responces.......firsco answered you as well.

but as you know bud....the v thing on gellcoat is a can of worms on the forum.....it get really heated......the last one got locked......and one shortly after that one in a different spot got locked.......the mods watch these threads like hawks, and its just too much work for them.
so.....out of respect.....we all kept our mouths shut.

no offence to you at all bud....

really....we are all here to help you.

cheers
oops

I Normally would slam the V Issue here .. as I have in the past ( dont go there ) . As oops! said it plane as day .. WE ARE here to help. If that means you choose a different way .. then so be it .. we will be here to help as far as we can.

As long as you understand we can go only so far on the help when you choose a direction that is not only non-professional .. but really not standard in the boating realm of things .. you pick your own poisons so to speak.

and ryder.......sometimes it just takes longer to get a responce.....

Yes.. please give at least a day for a response :) I have kids and a wife ( as many do .. and we like to go camping too :) .. give us more then a few hours to respond )

I read your post and so did 141 others (views), it's just like oops said...the vasiline thing has been beaten to death here, so most tend to shy away from them. It's absolutely nothing agaisnt you.

Well said ..

Oh lord i just searched the vaseline thing as I din't know what you were on about... i never heard of it being used till now ( what a sheltered life i lead I know..) And after reading all the posts about it I still don't know it 's a good idea to go with it or not:D

Its apparently a Boat to Boat and user to user thing .. I guess it will Visually make your boat Eye candy ..but It does have its draw backs ..and its pros .. as long as you understand the pros and cons of this ..

Sorry guys....

Just thought we could have STP come by and rock out a little:D

Im with ya there J :) ..

Basically.. if you want to pose a question that is not meant to be a squabble thread .. I have NO problem helping you in the best way I/We can on the open forum. .. Right or wrong is subject to the Poster ( Yes I am learning more and more ) ..

Good thread IMHO ..

Peace and tell us your results PLEASE so we know ..

YD.
