    Winterize

Did the dealer leave the plugs out of the engine block after they winterized it? Some will drain the block, and leave plugs in a bag taped to block or in engine compartment.

    Gearcase oil change

If it has 10 hours on it, and is still clear golden with no water mixed in or metal flakes, you are fine running it. Then, change it this fall when you put the motor away. For the few dollars it costs, I change my gear lube each fall. I also live up north where it gets real cold and any water...

Worth flame arrestor upgrade for Mercruiser engines?

The flame arrestor is simply meant to protect against backfires of the motor and ensure flames don't come out and/or come in contact with anything that could be bad news for the boat.

    Impeller overheating

Definitely make sure no rubber pieces are caught up in the water tube if the other impeller got smoked. Did you ensure the key that holds impeller in place was installed back on the shaft? If the impeller was destroyed, it would seem like it wasn't getting water... Most muffs pump water through...

    2021 Tracker V-16 leaks

I would agree with the above. Try and find a Tracker dealer near you. If you mess around and try and fix the issue, but can't...you may end up having a dealership tell you that you have voided the warranty and that they won't fix the issue for you.

How do I check kill switch?

I'd avoid using starting fluid on your 2-stroke motor, not good for them. Especially spraying in the plug holes. You could try a spray in the intake for carb, but again...try not using starting fluid if you can. How are you testing the spark? Do you have compression? Is gas getting to...

How do I check kill switch?

I am not certain, but I believe if your kill switch was the issue, the motor would not be turning the starter or spinning the flywheel....

Struggling to install lower unit....Force 90Hp

A crack in the lower unit is never a good sign. Could be water in gear lube froze over the winter...could be the lower gears were destroyed....could mean issues. Regardless, the prop should not turn easily when it is in gear...you should only have to turn it a little bit to get the splines to...

Struggling to install lower unit....Force 90Hp

Is the ratchet strap tight? If its ratcheted too tight, you wont be able to turn the splines. Loosen the strap a little, and with the lower unit and shifter both in forward gear, lift up on the lower unit until it stops, turn the prop clockwise with your hand a little until it goes in the...

94 four winns horizon prop issues. Sounds like its coming apart

Drain the gear lube. See if anything is in there, and if there is gear lube...see if it is full of metal flakes.

    02 horizon 190 shifter/throttle question

Some shifting levers do not slide out. You press the button in middle and advance the lever and it will not be in gear. Easy way to check. Press button and move lever forward. Get out and see if prop spins freely by hand. If so, it is neutral. If not, its still in gear.

    Mercury blackmax 150

Alright. The manual I have is for 1992 and newer...so probably won't be exactly what you are needing. I'm happy to share it to give you an idea of what the syncing of the carbs entails, but you will want to find a manual for your motor and check the above mentioned things.

94 four winns horizon prop issues. Sounds like its coming apart

What type of motor is on your boat? Removing the lower can be different depending on motor. Mercruisers can be split without removing the entire drive, but OMC Cobras need to have the whole lower unit removed, then split. Did you remove the bolt under the anode? How many nuts did you remove...

    Mercury blackmax 150

If you had the carbs rebuilt last year, it would be essential that they were linked and synced. Also need to make sure timing advance and other things are set correctly. What year is your motor? I may have a pdf version of the manual you can look at.

    Trim not working either direction

I'd agree with Bob. If it was really choppy and then you lost trim function, seems like something may have bounced loose. Check grounds and wiring. Make sure everything is still snug and tight....

    Cover over propeller drive shaft?

So what is it you are thinking should be covered? The prop shaft? the seals behind the prop? The end of the prop? Still a little unclear. There is no cover for the prop shaft or one behind the prop. The prop slides on the shaft with a thrust washer behind it. Then the nut holds prop on...

    Motor stuck

Is your steering wheel still able to turn? The steering cable is most likely either pinched, busted, or seized. Start by removing the steering cable from the engine. See if the motor now turns both ways by hand. Then you can play with the steering wheel and see if the shaft on steering...
