    Regular fuel

As long as you're using it regularly, 87 is fine to use. Letting it sit untreated for an extended period (4-6 months) is when you will start to see issues. Save yourself the money and burn the 87'

    First Class Outboards.com

If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is. Any company who is claiming to sell you a brand new Mercury Verado 300hp outboard for $11,000.00 would have me seriously doubting their legitimacy.

    Mercury 60hp CT prop question

In general, switching from the 4 to 3 blade with the same pitch would give you some additional RPM's. It takes more HP to turn a 4 blade prop, so you typically get less RPM's out of a 4 blade. You may lose some hole shot performance, but I think a 3 blade of the same pitch would give you a...

Spark plugs for older Merc (80s)?

Do you have the serial number from the motor? That's the easiest way to verify the fuel filter you need, as well as what plugs it takes. Most likely your fuel filter would be 35-87946Q04... but a serial number would verify...

Craigslist scammers ? or am I being paranoid?

When I was selling an old outboard on craigslist I received countless responses with folks stating that wanted the motor and wanted my address and information so that they could send me a bank check and have their "shipping" company arrange a pickup. Those are the ones I promptly ignored.

Older Merc 150 2 stroke really rough below 3000 RPM

Ethanol won't damage your carbs. It can eat away at fuel lines and primer bulbs which in turn can lead to clogged jets, stuck float valves and other carb issues...but the carbs are not actually damaged. Just get the carb kits, tear them apart, soak and clean them, and they are good to go. I...

    crawdad

I take it from the title of your post you are asking about a Coleman Crawdad plastic boat....but what plug are you asking about? Drain plug? something else? Is it a screw in plug or rubber? if you need a drain plug....take a measuring tape and measure the hole...then order a plug that size....

Please HELP! Am I being overcharged for Presale Inspection, Service, etc 2016 Cobalt R3?

The letters on the left indicate what is was the shop used. "I" would be for an item...like a gasket or part. "M" is materials...like oil or lube. "L" is for labor. The numbers beside them indicate quantity. For the "L" items, that is how many hours of labor were spent. For the "M" its how...

Trying to reprop, but how can I tell if my engine gets to WOT?

Throttle linkage is part of the throttle control. Its the second cable--not the shifty cable. Really, watching that is not essential to answer your question. Like Rick said...with motor NOT running, put it in forward full throttle. take flame arrestor off carb and look down. Are the plates...

    Charging trolling motor batteries

I may be mistaken, but I believe that the onboard chargers take power from the motor--either an alternator or stater--depending on the motor-- and convert that AC power to DC power to charge the batteries while you would be under way and using the motor. Again, this is only my assumption and...

    New motor

You said the checkmate was a 1987...do you know what year the Yamaha is? Could be newer than that...or could be older. Get the model/serial number and figure out what year motor you are actually looking at. I am from upstate NY and a motor from Schroon was most likely only seasonably used...

    Spun prop of something else?

If you wanna check for a spun prop, pull off the prop and take a sharpie and make a straight line across the prop and rubber hub on the rear of prop. reinstall and run the prop for 2-3 minutes. Pull the prop off and look at the lines. If they aren't lined up anymore, you hub is spun.

    Winterize

Look in the engine compartment. Do you see any freeze plugs that popped out lying in the bottom of the compartment? Do you know where the drain plugs for the engine block are supposed to be on that motor? If so check and see if they were put back into the engine block. If it sounded like a...
