    Cover over propeller drive shaft?

I am a bit confused on what you are talking about....Are you referring to the large nut that holds the prop on to the shaft? What are you asking if it should be covered? Pictures of what you are speaking about may be helpful....

    Prop Fitment

If the prop you purchased is the same pitch and diameter as the old one, you may just have the wrong hub kit in the prop for the motor. They sell various hub kits (the part that inserts into the prop).

Help with very old Pontoon repair

You can pull the plug on the top of the section you think is leaking and pump most of the water out with a hand pump and tube. Then applpy the air...that way you wont have tro wait as long for water to pump out the leak. I know my toons have 3/8 threaded holes on top. When mine had a leak, I...

    2016 Mercury 90 4 Stroke Shaking Missing

I'm just trying to think of obvious silly things that may be your problem, if you only changed plugs and filter and now have problems. Did you make sure plug wires are secure back on the plugs after changing the plugs? When you put new gas in in March, was the old gas left in the tank too...

2008 Yamaha 90HP will not go into move foward in water

How hard it is would depend on your mechanical abilities. Overall, probably one of the easier things to do to an outboard. I prefer shifting into forward gear when I remove my lower, as it can help in reassembling and lining up the splines, but if yours isn't shifting into forward, you can do...

2008 Yamaha 90HP will not go into move foward in water

Have you tried pulling the lower unit off and manually shifting it from there to see if it goes into forward gear?

Dont know what model i have

You don't necessarily need the year with the Merc, but I believe you have a 1995 motor. The bad news is it looks like the carb is NLA. I believe this is the carb repair kit.... 827493M

Can I run my Mercury outboard without gear oil?

No. I may be mistaken, but I am fairly certain things are still moving in the lower unit even when its not "in gear." Don't run it without gear lube in the lower or you will may cause some issues with your gears. For the $8 gear oil costs, I wouldn't risk it.

To fuel filter or not. 3.0

I agree with Alumarine....both my previous 3.0's had them and there were never any issues. What reason do these documents state as their rationale?

    What size Prop

What prop you replace it with depends on how the old one performed. What were your WOT RPM's with the old prop, on a typically loaded boat? What are your motor's recommended WOT RPM's? Are you looking for whole shot? Top end? Or all around balanced performance?

    4.5 Mercury 2 stroke-

Don't take short cuts. I'm assuming you meant carburetor rebuild? Take your time. Soak the parts in carb cleaner. Especially with a small motor like that, the holes in jets are tiny and doesn't take much to clog them or cause it to run rough. Don't just take it apart, spray some carb cleaner...

    200EFI mercury

You definitely don't wanna run it too high above the recommended RPM's or you will be doing another rebuild shortly. What are you using to gauge the RPM's? You sure its accurate? Was that the prop you were using before? I would say, if you are sure the RPM's are accurate, you need to raise...

    Boat won't move

Could be a few things as mentioned. Could be a spun prop...or worse, no or low gear lube and you destroyed the gears in the lower unit. What type of motor is it? Merc, OMC?

    Need Electrical help

I agree with dwco on this. Did you install the socket yourself? There needs to be a box in the ceiling where you mount the light. Without doing that it will not be to code and could also cause a fire. That box is where your joined wires will be, keeps them from being exposed, and provides...

    Need Electrical help

How are the new light sockets being mounted to the ceiling? Typically, the mounting bracket that mounts socket to the ceiling box will have a little green screw on it for the ground wire...there is nothing like that?

New boater with trouble starting engine

If you went back and tried it, and got one beep, that is the normal start up, which is good. But the problem will likely occur again. As folks are saying, it could be several issues. Listening to the video you posted, it seems like a pretty continuous beep. That can mean low oil, low oil...
