60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

I probably wouldn't use engine oil or gear oil. Wd40 would work if you keep applying it. Or you can use PB blaster as it doesn't dry as fast or liquid wrench. If you have light household oil around or cutting fluid...maybe even transmission fluid in a spray bottle or marvel mystery oil. Use what...

How to remove the oil seal from a 9.5 evinrude lower unit ?

To pull seals I have used drywall screws. Not saying it will work in this case or that you should

Harbor Freight is your friend. You can buy whole sets of sockets or wrenches for what almost a single socket would cost on Amazon or at Lowe's or even the auto parts store.

Suddenly boat stopped going into gear. Help!

That is crazy! But there are a lot of these engines out there and all over the world.

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

I'd say it looks like they are used to hold that intake on. But I can't really tell from the picture and I don't have real world experience taking that off and that engine. My gut and looking at it is I would say yes they need to come out. You can use a hand impact screwdriver if your or your...

Lower Unit gear oil screws (2 of them) 1991 Johnson 25 HP

Yea. The marine allows it to absorb more moisture in suspension than regular gear oil

Suddenly boat stopped going into gear. Help!

Cause of the clunking and jumping out of gear. That's just like the clutch dog slips and is spinning then all of a sudden it will catch again Spinn ng the prop then stop. I don't personally think it's a spun prop. Could be like he said a stripped driveshaft that's spinning and catches all of a...

    Overheating 92 60 hp Evinrude

So are you saying the pee stream out of the engine stops once it's put in Foward? Is that at idle in F or higher RPM or doesn't matter?

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

You use the three hole thread rod or bolts into them then you use your center stud on puller to force against the center crank end your talking about

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

Yea you have the correct one. I used a three jaw puller and pulled from the outside edges of the flywheel. It snapped a corner off of it.

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

This one is important. When I was newer to some of this stuff I used the wrong puller and broke my flywheel. So use a puller with the threaded bolts.

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

You can tell that in the pic, you could see a table under it and a roll of duct tape. So I knew it was off. Some still very strange things are going on here. I'm not sure if there isn't another person involved with this ? The waiting on the 5/16 socket has me a bit confused as to what's going on.

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

Your planning on rebuilding this engine but you didn't have a 5/16 socket already? Are you sure you are able to do this? I mean maybe you just broke your only one you had or maybe you sold all your tools in a love last month, I guess I don't know every situation at hand?

Lower Unit gear oil screws (2 of them) 1991 Johnson 25 HP

Your ok. It has a shaft that goes through a hole. You have to pull it out about half way before the pin on the screw comes out of the shift cradle pivot. To check just shift it in gear and check to see if the prop engages in reverse and Foward. If it's not hooked on that pin it will not work .

I assumed PW was supposed to be PH but when I looked at the keep pad I saw the two letters were no where near so I was like maybe it's something I don't have a clue about?

    Emergency (backup) trolling motor...

Yes I was going to say if you boat in a very big lake or far from people or shore just the motor won't do you much good you will need battery capacity to get anywhere. Which you are now keeping multiple batteries for the electric motor maintained and fresh. And they weigh 50+ pounds a piece so...
