    My friend has a 79 140 Johnson and the power tilt and trim stopped working the motor runs fine but it will not raise the motor or lower the motor we can use the bypass screw to raise it and lower any help would be greatly appreciated

    My friend has a 1989 mercury 115 carburetor motor with no spark to top plug 4 cylinder I was wondering if you could tell me what the power pack is called on a mercury stator wires go to it coil wires go to it I need to get an approximate price so I can tell him thanks for your help

    I guess to fix what I have messed up but live and learn I bought this motor for parts I have a J140tlcte a local guy rebuild it sent block to tenn put 4 new wiseco pistons in it bout 10years now still doing good so thanks guys I really appreciate what you do on here

    Racerone thank you for your answer model # j140tlcnb I bought it as a parts motor I started checking it out just nosey and I found a ring broke took it apart honed the cylinder scratch out I don’t want to put dollars in it but thought i may put a piston in it just to see if I can get it running...

    If you tear a motor like this and replace a piston do you have to re- time the motor after u put it back together

    ii would at least take carb apart and clean maybe spray little premix fuel in carb while running to see if it makes any difference adjust mixture screw back where it was good luck

    just so u know an automotive key switch will not work on a boat hope this helps

    if yours has a rubber hose coming out the bottom of head remove one at a time if you have iots of water flow then your theromostats faulty blocked or something just my thoughts hope you get it fixed
