    Mercruiser 4.3L - Stumbles at 3000RPM

I would have pulled the carb apart by now and been out a few bucks for gaskets. regarding fuel pressure, its either there or not. most intermittent issues are not fuel supply related as the fuel bowl in the carb has enough fuel in it to run for a few minutes. the fact the motor runs at...

    Mercruiser 4.3L - Stumbles at 3000RPM

It's almost never the coil. Coils work or they don't. They are not ever problematic at a specific RPM in the middle of the range

The filter at the carb will pass small rocks. It's about a 100 micron filter. The spin on one is 11 micron. Look at the water separating filter....looking for water

how old is the fuel? when was the fuel/water separator filter last serviced? have you checked the content of the fuel filter for water? when was the carb last cleaned. it sounds like either water in the fuel, bad fuel, or dirty carb.

    Starter Not Engaging

the seloc manual isnt worth being used for anything more than a knee pad. look at the pilot relay for the starter. follow the yellow wire with red stripe. being EFI, the relay should be next to the fuel pump relay.

    Snapped seat bolt

This is on your rusty but trusty truck? there should be a weld nut attached to the sheet metal. I would probably put in a few self-tapping sheet metal screws, or get the carpeting a bit wet and weld the bracket to the remainder of the broken bolt / ez-out

    Bayliner Floor Project

its a roll of the dice. however I believe that in 2007, sugarsand used stringer tubs. doesnt mean that there isnt dead fish between the floor and hull. older boats have lots of wood many newer boats have stringer tubs and lots of methacrylate holding them together (glorified superglue) with...

Crank driven vs block mounted raw water pump pros/cons

must have done a few hundred heat exchanger setups in my prior life. you need to make sure the expansion tank is about 20% of the total system capacity. you need about 10% for draw-down and 6% for expansion. is this a full system or a half system?

    Bayliner Floor Project

Not sure you will get into a newer boat, even needing a motor for only $2k. Boating is an expensive hobby. the last 4 years, the cost of boats is up 40% over what they were in 2021. So the used market prices are artificially high. looks like most of the auction prices are starting at $2k for...

    Bayliner Floor Project

your post from saturday should be a red flag that the boat is not safe. there is no quick bandaid for your current boat plenty of newer hurricane sunken boats available with good hulls, some cosmetic issues, and flood damaged motors available. bayliner changed their hull construction methods...

10 people skirting the great lakes something to handle rough water Having grown up on Lake Michigan, you could do a pontoon until the wind changes direction. then you will want something that can take a pounding I recommend that you look for a deep v at least 24-28 feet, most likely twins...
