Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

I added wire to mine to get to my batteries. I didn't cut the charging wire though as it would void warranty. Just twisted the extra wire around it, liquid electrical tape, followed by electrical tape. Haven't had an issue thus far. SHSU

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

Depending on your access to water, if you can drive to a lake that is the easiest. Just need a couple buddies or couple hundred pounds to just hang out for a couple minutes next to the dock with a grease pencil. Then any leaks found, just circle. The other option, while not recommended, is...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

A lot of blue tape. I taped off everything, both vinyl and aluminum side. Think I have a picture or two on my build thread showing how I did it. I will have to go see if I can dig one up. SHSU

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

I did 3/4 BCX, no treated lumber in an aluminum boat. I am a bigger guy and didn't want any bowing under foot when walking around. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Would be interested if anyone takes the chance. Would like to get one for my engine. Not that I am planning to do anymore "Major" work on my engine. Would still like to read the tips/tricks I had to learn the hard way. lol SHSU

    1987 Starcraft islander 190v?

Definitely a night and day difference. If you have room, suggest some kind of rubber cushioning to keep the tank from rubbing a hole where it contacts the aluminum you are adding. SHSU

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

I created my two livewells to run separate. That way I can leave one dry or run different refill schedules depending on the bait. That being said, don't know if I would run pipe for something I "might do". Other option is to prerun a couple pull lines. That way if you do decide to do it, its...

I can't say, but I do know I put more Styrofoam in when I replaced what Starcraft installed from factory. SHSU

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

Doesn't look like a Super Sport. Splashwell and bow rise don't look right. That being said, my SS16 is rated for 90 HP. Any pictures of your knee brace? SHSU

    Help with a drainage problem

Second what @ShoestringMariner said. I did remove mine, but made no improvement to the "channel". With how I laid the flooring, it prevents anything from falling below. Otherwise, I just try and keep the bilge as clean as possible. If I ever redo or someone does, I will ask them what they...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

What about angle iron screwed into the deck? I would be nervous about it shifting when wet and hitting a big wave. Might just be me. SHSU

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Should just be a light scuff, not a sanding in the traditional sense. So just enough to break the top layer/film. SHSU

I think every transom removal requires you to find some corrosion behind it. That being said, sounds like you have plan of attack and are good to go. SHSU

    New Journey

You will find different suggestions, but general consensus is its a waste of time, as you are not actually covering the area where the rivet comes through the hull. That being said, I did have extra material as well and still hit them. It helped me sleep better at night. lol SHSU
