    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Yep, right now with everything out is the best time to test. Ah I see what you mean. With the floor torn out you should be able to bang most of it out. Both, so there is a C channel that runs the length of the hull on both sides. I used solids on that one. Then the channel for the rub rail...

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

Pour foam gets everywhere, so not surprised tanks is encapsulated. You may be able to setup a short pulley system at both ends to try and lift it out or at least pop the tank. SHSU

I think all starcrafts being restored have the same multi hole rib tips. Might be a "feature" for weight reduction.... lol SHSU

lol, I don't think any of us staid within our budgets.... I know I sure didn't. The picture is of your keel. It is a separate aluminum piece from your hull. It uses some of the same rivets as your Ribs, so you can redo those at the same time if you want as well. Yep, you need to inspect...

1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

So that is why the admiral wants me to keep extra paint cans around the house. lol Progress of any kind is good progress. Also we all started somewhere and I would say I am still JV, but once I am like @Watermann with a couple rebuilds under my belt... maybe JV A team. lol Can't help on...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Taken from a website: The optimum length for a solid rivet will be equal to the thickness of the material to be joined, plus an exposed tail equal to the rivet diameter times 1.5. For example, a 1/8-inch rivet should have an exposed tail of 1.5 x .125 inch or .188 inch. If you add that to the...

Early Starcraft Super Sport dashboard ideas?

I remember how that goes. At one point I got fed up with it and realized the "couple bucks" saved wasn't worth the hassle. Plus as you mentioned, you aren't confident in the seller. In many cases I would only purchase if they accepted Paypal so I had at least some recourse if it went south. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Two years ago I got a 1/8 thick 4x8 sheet of 6061 for $140 in Houston. Big box stores and ebay have a stiff price increase. I quickly learned to keep all my extra aluminum. SHSU

My 2 cents for what its worth... We are not trying to be controversial or tell you that what you are doing is wrong. There have been a lot of people that have had negative experience with pour in foam and the point of the forum is to educate and assist with issues as they come up. So as in...

Any day working on the boat is a good day... As long as it was planned. lol I am sure others will chime in, but why the pour in foam? I know a lot of guys don't like them in tinnies. SHSU

Ya, having it drop in from top provides a better force distribution. Its a push force into a solid structure. If you try to make it flush, the force would be pulling from underneath and isolated to the screws holding whatever mechanism you are using to support it. SHSU

Early Starcraft Super Sport dashboard ideas?

Ah, I did a double layer of 3/4 with the underside just fitting between the built in. No clip needed. If anything you could say that the "cushions" we installed would keep it from jumping out. Never had an issue with it. SHSU

You can easily reinsert rubrail with a flat head screwdriver or a putty knife. As for getting a new one, http://wefcorubber.com/extrusions_marine_rub_rails.asp is the place I got mine. Below is the info I got back when I did my order for a new rub rail. "The part is 1 1/16" wide X 3/8" tall $...

Not sure what you mean by clips. I blind riveted the console to the helm. As for extra support, I double layered the 3/4 to give me as much extra thickness as possible. I also added an aluminum bar but can't seem to find a picture. SHSU

Your build/your decision, but if you have it apart now its cheap "insurance" to help prevent any future leaks. Just my 2 cents SHSU
