    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

I guess my concern would be squeezing the clamps too tightly and in essence wringing out the resin from the fiber causing starved fiber. Also make sure the overall thickness doesn’t exceed specifications. If using the PB Glue method, you can also make it kick slow. You only tighten the clamps...

That’s great information. Most of the stitching of vinyl and leather is pretty long. I too have a walking foot attachment on a Singer, so I’m following along with much interest.

    Carb Rebuild Kit

I have a Rochester Quadrajet on my 4.3LX. No better place than Cliff’s Performance for QJ rebuild kits. You didn’t mention which carb you had, so figured I’d chime in on the QJ.

2006 Sea Ray 185 Motor Mount Repair Question

Usually when the mount caves in and the motor sinks, the coupler gets destroyed. Most find that out when they try to align the drive shaft through the gimbal bearing into the coupler. It ain’t gonna go. An alignment bar would definitely point this misalignment out. A buddy of mine poured SeaCast...

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

I think if I added up the time it took to do the complete gut job on my boat, there is no way in the world anyone would pay me. Lol. Guess you gotta be way less particular than me to make a living at this work.

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Well that sounds scientific......with the vent tubing low in the bilge, any sinking vapors, (heavier than air), would be drawn out.

I would think that the engine compartment is airy enough that the vacuum pulling on the rear of the boat is enough to draw air out of the vents through the tubing in the bilge. I’m not an expert, and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Lag Bolt Hole Striped (Engine Mount To Hull)

If you do cut the top of the mount box off, you can dig out all the nastiness, clean, then fill with Seacast. All you do is cover the SeaCast with a layer or two of glass and you’re good to go. SeaCast is a little pricey, but you can do both boxes, and it’s a permanent rot proof repair.

Yep, I agree with @Scott06 I tend to keep my bilge blower on all the time while I’m running, because I tend to forget to turn it on when I slow. The bilge vents will move more air than the blower when under way.....at least in my boat. Sure wish those pics would come through. I’m really...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

Ha ha!!! I think we’ve all spilled and had to scoop up by hand. The disposable piping bags are so much better for this. They are about as thick as freezer bags, and the proper shape. They are very cheap! ;)

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

If you CSM the back of the transom plywood, then PB without hair is what you do in my opinion. You’re using it to glue the core to the hull, and there’s no better glue. You’re tabbing and glassing it in anyway. Hairy PB you’ll want to use as a filler, such as fillets and bedding. Hope that makes...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I agree. Although it doesn’t look too bad, the dark chips mean it’s been wet. It’s best to take it out now, and install new, better than factory.
