Put me in the black camp. You're going through all that trouble with the stitching, make it stand out to show your craftsmanship.

    Boat Financing

I'm told, and have not confirmed, that once you cross 50k financed, you can do 20yrs. Mine was on a 15 yr loan....it's now on home equity as the credit union my marina works with is run by 3yr olds. I'm much happier that way and can pay it on my terms. Interest rate is better too.

A few questions from a learner

We'll agree to disagree as repairing the prop is just returning it to as purchased state. That can be done without any of the information you're craving. I know, I've had it done and had same performance after the repair. Think of it as repairing a flat tire that was punctured by a nail. You're...

A few questions from a learner

Huh?? Any competent repair shop can do that work without knowing any WOT settings on the boat. They go off the specs of the prop. Cost me $50 a few years back to have mine repaired for the Four Winns - met a rock pile. Only gave the shop my name and the bent prop - a couple weeks later, good...

Create storage in Hurricane 217 Sd

Some manufacturers have the seat backs in the bow (right up against the windshield) on hinges to access the additional space in the consoles. Have you checked to see if your Hurricane is setup that way? Depending on configuration, that might be the easiest way to access the space in the...

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

On the ones I looked at there were no side pockets either. That's where I store my dock lines, glasses (sun and prescription) and other essentials..so poor use of space. For what we look for in a boat, basically and SUV on the water that can cruise and fish, this is a non-starter...

Four Winns SL262 - 2008 Bimini repair help

You mean the metal pegs like on a EZ-Up tent? If so, have access to the top of the pole? Cause I'm betting that spring clip with a button was simply pressed in too far and is actually still in the pole. Broom handle or wooden dowel will probably push it back in place.

    1989 Bass Tracker Pro17 Trailer

BP may not sell them but another Tracker dealer may very well. Other option would be any local marina as they usually stock trailers - some calling might be in order to see what they have. You might keep your eyes on Craigslist to see if a gently used trailer comes up.

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

I'd include FourWinns if you're buying new....just with Merc power. Definitely look at the boat you are considering. My family personally wrote off SeaRay - no side storage for fishing poles and my wife nearly killed the salesman with her glare when he said he could put her pole in the ski...

Surge brakes lasted 1200 miles of highway, whats wrong

What's the trailer to vehicle connection look like? Is it level or slightly up? Or is the nose of the trailer slightly down so that the surge brakes are partially engaged?

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

Over the years I've had (3) different local (within 100miles) marinas winterize my I/O's. Each one of them certified Volvo/Merc dealers/service. Each one of them use the exact same thing....Air. It simply don't freeze.

    1986 lowe 160 16ft -motor weight problems

Launch the boat, toss the extra 80lbs of weight onto the transom. That'll tell you immediately how the boat is going to sit. Like Roscoe and Scott, I don't see you getting much of a performance boost going up at most 12HP....provided your current motor is in tune.

    1990 javelin 378 fs

Floor rots last, not first. So probably (likely) stringers and transom are garden mulch. Will the boat hold up is anyone's guess. Personally, I wouldn't use it at all until all repairs are made. Your life, those on your boat with you, and those around you are at stake. That's not a risk I'm...

    Windows 11 yes/no?

Here's a few things to consider.... 1. Windows 10 is dead (eol) in 2025. You have 3 years yet for Microsoft to work out the kinks in Windows 11. 2. May not install correctly on older hardware. There's a specific set of pre-reqs that unless your PC is a couple years old (less than say 3 years)...

Purchasing 2nd Boat: Jet or Stern Drive?

Personally I wouldn't own a jet. I boat in weedy waters and the idea of having to dive under the boat to clear the intake does not interest me. Sucking up a rock or three isn't appealing either - I also boat in shallow water. My cousin's daughter drove that part home this past summer. She...

    Special Boat

In all honesty, you're probably looking more at a center console than you are a fish & ski. Out of the fish & ski models I've looked at over the years, that's not something I've found on that size of boat.

    trailer dolly?

What about a well used, ie older, and smaller SUV? Say a 2 door Wrangler? Shorten the length of your entire rig since you're already looking at dropping it in the street. Would be close to tow limit but since you're only using the Wrangler to back the boat on the property it'll be fine for that...
