    One place that won't show up easily is the power steering cooler. That would be a pressure test in the cooler inlet and outlet lines. The leaked oil goes right out through the exhaust with the cooling water. Good luck....

    Do not use regular old "RTV" around the intake ports. Gasoline melts RTV and will cause vacuum leaks.

    You can connect an old school dwell meter to neg side of coil. If it shows dwell while engine is cranking, then system is working to the coil..

    Check the exhuast valve components for that cylinder. Lifter, pushrod, rocker arm and even cam lobe. A stuck closed exhaust valve will build excess compression in that hole.

    The main indicator here is the 12VDC to the coil +. That needs to be a constant. If it comes and goes, there is a problem in the wiring harness before the coil.     With ignition switch off, there should be nothing going to the gauge. That being said, if it's pegged with power off, gauge is probably kaput
