    On a rebuilt i questioned the weird compression on some cyls but we did have an issue with loose valves that needed to be 0 lashed again. There is a vacuum port at the TBI leading to the MAP. I jumpered the DTC blk and blk and white and got it in the ballpark but no timing light used.

    5.0gi PEFS, i sent a message to the reprogramer to see if there was a need to have injectors replaced. Either way if not needed i will still have injectors flow tested and cleaned. I also removed spark plugs (ACDELCO MR43LTS) and reviewed that gaps. Some plugs with gaps of 45° and some with 30°...

    Yes i am using the same injectors. I don't really know the fuel tables used when remapping, i would have to ask Ben Bowman to see. To accompany this i did another compression test with an Innova gauge because the Harbor freight was giving way low numbers and this is what i got with all plugs off.

    Bondo i just tested both pumps. Lower comes in at about 18 psi constant at idle and load. High side comes in at about 33 psi constant at idle and load. Aftet testing the schrader valves started leaking after engine shut off. This is a carter pump and being a new to me boat i would like to change...

    Reman 5.7gi started on a stand will idle but once rpms are up it will hesitate, bucking and even want to shut off or it will shut off. It will sometimes also backfire. Several parts are new before starting due to deteriorated such as starter, distributor, oil sender, circ pump, knock sensor...

    Update, bad jumper cables, or at least not strong enough to start it. Get a pair of 2 awg marine and at least it turns over with plugs

    Scott, it has 2 new batteries i tested them both with the volt meter and they are reading above 12.6 as well as a new marine starter. I also tied both batteries to start it as one, still nothing.

    Rebuily 350 will turn by hand with plugs no issue. Plugs removed starter will turn. ..the issue is with plugs removed starter won't turn over. Compression is good above 180 on all cyls. To be honest i have no clue as what is happening.

    Well alldodge after the finger in the spark hole test, no compression.... looks like the rocker arms are too tight leaving the valves open. No compression on any cylinder. I did the tightening sequence for the valves 0 lash and then 1/4 turn for 2 full revs and thrn some more revs for checking...

    Would anyone have the part number for both trim lines coming out of the trim prump to the manifold at the transom? I looked at the volvo website and there is no diagram for those items. Engine is a 5.0gi and outdrive is a DP-SM.

    Anyone has by chance a cross refence to a volvo penta 5.7gi belt tensioner used in the auto world. Belt tensioner square adjuster broke and i dont want to dish out 130 for a nes one if i can get it at the auto parts. The part for my engine is 3860079

    5.7 vortec oil pan gasket

    Yes that one i did, the one in question was between the oil pan and the gasket. Specifically over the timing cover and rear seal.
