    trim tabs

I had to think about it for a minute........but you are correct. I have to use the starboard trim control to level the boat out on the run.

Lopi Travis Industries Radiant Plus Gas Logs no Thermostat Control

Same here. Have a like/hate relationship with it. We have three fireplaces in the house. One in the Family room, one in the Keeping room and one in the Master bedroom. The In-laws converted the one in the Family room prior to us buying the place. I like it because of the ease of adding some...

Lopi Travis Industries Radiant Plus Gas Logs no Thermostat Control

Ours was flaky. It would work fine one day then randomly shut off the next. I thought it as the thermostat, but turns out it only controls the blower on my system. In the end, it turned out to be the thermocoupler. The primary feedback of flame temp/ status to the control valve.

Lopi Travis Industries Radiant Plus Gas Logs no Thermostat Control

Know more about this subject than I care too. Fireplace was inoperable when we bought the house Check that the temp control circuit is functional. The remote is connected to a separate set of contacts on the gas control valve. If you’re getting the signal out to the controller, then the gas...

    trim tabs

Is this a new problem to an existing boat or is the boat new to you? Coriolis effect of the a clockwise rotating prop makes a boat lean to starboard Sounds about right if they're helm controlled tabs. I'm guessing I have 1.5 - 1.75" of travel between full open and closed

    transducer mounting

Can’t over come the physics of sonar detection. The resonance of the aluminum hull is “blinding” to an acoustic device. At one time, Airmar published acoustic data for a shoot thru install in a fiberglass hull. Showed just how much signal degradation took place with an in-hull installation...

    transducer mounting

In-hull installations work well for depth readings, but you loose a lot of target sensitivity in the process. If sonar performance counts.....a "glued on hull" installation isn't going to cut it. ;)

    changing transducers and fishfinders.

How are you using the units? Ran a 587 with a B164 for a number of years. 98% of the fish I target are in the top 30' of the water column. Really only needed the extra power a couple of times (1000') targeting Tile fish. Decided to switched to a Garmin EchoMap CHIRP 94SV paired up with a...

    Trailer bleeding brakes. Part 2

If the bleed port with clogged with junk, hard telling the condition of the caliper internally. What did you do to "grease the piston" No way to get air in the system unless the actuator is low on fluid, back up solenoid is leaking or you've loosened the bled valve(s) up too much. Shouldn't...

Has anyone used the ready lime (not the brand name) to descale their outboard

The short answer is no. HCL and sulphuric acid (“pickle juice”) has been used as a cleaning agent in steel production for years. Aluminum and titanium are more reactive. Actually built a system for a customer to measure/monitor the material as it passes through the pickling process. Use...

I want to place a metal patch on a Zinc-Coated steel gasoline tank opening.

Have you run the calculations of how much gas you can keep in a sealed tank before the pressure buildup causes it to explode? Would highly advise some sort of a pressure relief valve should things go south

I want to place a metal patch on a Zinc-Coated steel gasoline tank opening.

Interesting….. we have no natural gas infrastructure to speak of. Everyone uses oil, propane or electric (heat pump) to heat. True, but propane is all about the convenience of long term storage between uses.

    ignition switch power

Your comments would imply your trying to connect a 1997 with a pre-1996 switch Here is where the additional wires get connected

    ignition switch power

There is no "standard" when it comes to ignition switches. Unless you replaced the switch with the exact same make and model there is no guarantee the point to point wiring is the same. You need to get a schematic for the motor and match the wires up to the proper contacts on the switch

I want to place a metal patch on a Zinc-Coated steel gasoline tank opening.

I can get by running the entire house with a 4,500 watt portable generator as I still have oil heat. Gives me a bit over 24 hours from 5 gallons of fuel. Surprised you didn't go with a propane generator. Fill up the tank and forget about it until empty.

How long is the skeg on a mariner 30/40

Aluminum dissipates heat very efficiently. Not enough heat to do any damage. Would be more concerned about damage to the electrical systems if the battery wasn’t disconnected
