    Rope caught in Prop!

I've picked up a rope (crab pot) more than a couple of times on Flo-torq and rubber hubs. At speed, the prop cuts right through the rope. At idle, it stalls the motor right out. Never seen or heard of anyone blowing a prop hub on a rope, especially at idle

    A couple basic testing questions

I use one of these On single cylinder motor I don't care about the actual number. Just comparing it to an earlier base line I took. Having said that, I either crank or pull until I get to peak compression. It's either going to be in the ball park of the OE specification or it's not. If the...

    rectifier

The regulator sheds excess current as heat. Make sure the wiring from the output of the regulator to the battery isn't compromised in some manner. Corroded and or loose switch or battery connections will cause a regulator to run hot

Throttle linkage cable barrel at motor will not go into hole without moving throttle.

Cables are not universal. If the mechanism is different it's pretty safe to assume the cables are different. Have you confirmed that both motors use the same cable? A brief search would suggest they are not

Did a little saltwater fishing in SC last week.

https://www.saltwatersportsman.com/better-popping-cork-styles-and-tactics/ Pogie is local terminology. Officially Atlantic Menhaden, known as Bunker and Shad further up the coast. We catch and net them. Never noticed a difference in longevity either way. The trick to keeping them alive is no...

    Only goes 20 MPH

Ugh...... CAN and OBD2 are well documented and published SAE and ISO protocols and message structures. Unless the engine manufacturer developed and replaced the two with proprietary protocols and shared with Rinda this is BS. All you're buying is scan request and logging analyzer formatted...

    solenoids?

What's confusing? Polarity doesn't matter on the "slave" side of the solenoid. All your doing is sending a (low current) signal (blu/wht or grn/wht wire from switch) to Ground (blk)

    solenoids?

From an operational standpoint, it doesn't matter. From a continued support standpoint, yes

    1900ESX Prop Cavitation?

Is it cavitation or slip/flex? Have an old 14 x 19 aluminum prop with little, if any cup left that does the same thing. No problem over-powering it coming out of the hole Take it off and put the 15 x 15 Stainless prop back on and the problem goes away.

Oil laying about and 2 strokes go hand and hand. The nature of the beast ;) How old are the fuel and oil line? The oil line will start to permeate over time. Same thing for oil tanks. All bets are off after 10 years of service

    Which towing position

I've towed in position #2 using the trailer lock, in case of hydraulic failure, on my motor for the past 20 years now. In reality, the center of gravity of an outboard (power head) is sitting almost directly over the steering tube. Makes little, if any difference to the forces exerted on the...
