1998 Lowe 245 with 225 HP Evinrude Fitch motor

I have a hard time believing that the motor will not start w/o the lanyard. The manual for my 1997 Evinrude states that will run without lanyard for safety reasons.

Safe to tow with bow not resting on front roller?

Most I’ve owned could be reversed. They either ratcheted both ways or you had to flip the ratchet “catch” over and put it back on

Safe to tow with bow not resting on front roller?

Pull the strap off the winch and wind it back on so the strap comes off the underside of the winch. Problem solved

Fuel Tank Contamination (for your information)

Do they still sell it at Walmart?……lol I use Trident A1 barrier hose from the filter to the pump. Always use OE bulbs https://tridentmarine.com/product/trident-barrier-lined-a1-15-fuel-hose-365-series/#.YOGzKOT3aEc

    Old Humminbird Depth Finder Repair

Your wasting your time messing with 25 year old electronics. Sonar units flash when they loose connection with the transducer as a warning of invalid readings. I wouldn’t spend 30 cents on the unit unless I knew beyond a reasonable doubt that the head unit is working. Even then I would...

    Electrical Issues - Help?

This makes no sense. He mentions induction motor more than once but “induction” motors are AC. No such thing as a DC induction motor

    Rollet trailer....controlling during launch

I wrap the bow line around the winch post a couple of times. Back off the winch to put weight on bow line. Unhook winch, control boat weight using the wraps on winch post.

    Mounting transducer

I would plan on going with a drill less whatever that it. First thing I did when I bought my boat was to fill the old transducer holes with epoxy and mount a transducer mounting board. I have since gone to a thru hull for my primary, but use the plate to mount side the scan transducers and...

    Question about suitable battery type

The motor is charging the battery with an alternator, not a charger. To “top off” the AGM you must follow up with a battery charger designed for AGM use. I choose not to deal with that nonsense and run flooded acid batteries. My last pair of grp. 27 batteries lasted 10 years @ $125 each...

    Question about suitable battery type

The owners manual will give you the min. CCA requirements for the battery. From there it depends on how much room you have for a battery. Bigger is better but only to the point that you can keep the battery charged. I’ve had good luck using deep cycle RV batteries. They met the min. CCA...

    Electrical Issues - Help?

A change in blower speed would suggest a voltage drop. Put a meter on the supply to the fan to look for a voltage drop. If you don’t find a voltage drop, I’d be looking at the blower motor for worn brushes, bearings hanging up. Would affect everything wired that circuit. If nothing else...

    run a ground wire

Yes, you can do that but you will double the number of connections to go bad. Not to mention all the lights “downstream” of the fault will go dark. Run double wires or make a dedicated ground stud (SS) for each light. Went the double wire route this time. Probably revert back to dedicated...

New boat owner - not sure what battery to buy

Battery is crazy priced You only need one circuit breaker. The ground can be directly to the battery. I've successfully used these in a number of applications. https://www.ebay.com/itm/50-amp-12-24-Volt-Resettable-Inline-Circuit-Breaker-KIT-Boat-Trolling-Motor-/351929196238?_ul=IN Whether...

    2004 225 oil injector issue

The EMM is a "black box" computer. I believe #31 on the parts list is the oil pressure sensor Have you checked the operation of the oil sensor? Just become the SW doesn't clear the alarm properly doesn't mean that the sensor is not the probelm.

    Newbie prop/hub ?

The Flo-Toque 2 works, but the hub is hard plastic. Amplifiers prop chatter at low speeds. Used it for 1/2 season before switching to the Rubex. The Enertia is good performing prop for my setup. Offshore hull, #5k, 200 HP outboard. 30 mph@4300 rpm. 39.999 mph@5800. Your geared a lot lower...

    Newbie prop/hub ?

Heads up….. the prop chatter on my Enertia 15 x 15 was horrible with the flo-torque hub. The prop rang like a bell. Switched the Flo-Torque out for a Rubex rubber hub. The chatter is not completely gone, but tolerable Like the prop thou
