How to remove 1960's Attwood 15 inch steering wheel

Make yourself a knocker. Find two nuts, same size and thread as the steering shaft (probably 1/2-20), and a bolt also same thread. Run one nut up on the bolt, and the second one on only a couple of threads, then run the first nut back down against the second one and jam them together. You...

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

Since you are standing right in the iboats store, this probably is a good place to start. Pick one that interests you and follow up with specs, etc. https://www.iboats.com/shop/boat-engine-parts/boat-controls-steering/boat-controls/marine-remote-engine-controls.html

    No spark left bank

Possible internal wire break in wires from timer base/sensor assy, from flexing as throttle is moved.

Just Cut out the Kill Switch?

I personally know of two men that died when getting run over by the boat they fell out of. One of them had only a 5hp motor. Don't think it can't happen to you.

Gale 1959 SeaKing 5hp water impeller help

Procedure is similar to 1955 Johnson 5.5hp. Powerhead (think "engine") must be removed to access/disconnect the shift rod. Remove rear cover #28, then 7 screws holding powerhead on. Note some screws are longer than the rest. Disconnect any hoses/linkages as necessary. and lift powrerhead...

1.5hp Johnson SC10S trouble after running submersion - has spark will not hit on ether

I also suspect engine damage from trying to compress water. I've seen more than one connecting rod bent in engines that went for a swim while running. But yeah, reeds or head gasket are prime suspects.

    Evinrude 25 Lean sneeze

Are you sure it is in need of fixing? A bit of lean sneezing when starting up is normal till it warms up a bit. Simply "bump" the choke a bit to keep it running.

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

Back in "The Day" I attempted to de-goop a battery CD pulse pack or amplifier. No way, no how. Haven't attempted it since.

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

I thought it was clear that it wasn't all at the same time, across the board.

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

Again, depends on size motor we are talking about. Some people fear breaker points, some fear breakerless. The ones I don't care much for are the ones with a distributor cap under the flywheel (some have points, some don't). Those were found on larger motors. That was state of the art back...

    Boat with Engine $500 Hmm..

Lark is the name for the electric shift with generator model.

    Boat with Engine $500 Hmm..

If it truly is an Evinrude (white), then it is a 1967 Lark Electric shift. There are some $$$$ parts in it. The shift switch in the remote control comes to mind. But we don't know if it is any good. Feeling lucky?

Johnson 1981 115 Top Bearing Replacement

I don't think you will have any problem getting it back in. Truthfully, I haven't removed and replaced that many.. If it comes to that, it usually has other major problems. As mentioned before, the crankshaft is the inner race for the bearing.

Johnson 1981 115 Top Bearing Replacement

I agree, it is possible. Rig up a puller if necessary.

Johnson 1981 115 Top Bearing Replacement

Yeah, 3/16" is a LOT. Unless broken, the top end of the crank cannot move that much, unless the other (lower and center) bearings are shot also. That motor needs to come apart for inspection/evaluation.

1978 Evinrude, 35 HP starter will not spin the fly wheel

I find it hard to believe that exhaust could be plugged enough to prevent cranking. I think there are other issues involved here. Be sure to let us know what you find.

Advice needed 1977 evinrude 35 hp

Original aluminum pump, replaced by plastic pump with stainless steel liners. Can't tell which is in there without looking.

Advice needed 1977 evinrude 35 hp

Nice looking motor that doesn't look like it has been overheated. Overheating was a big problem here in Florida's weedy lakes. Weeds would block the water intakes. Good motors other than that. If it suits your needs, fix it up and run it.
