1959 35HP Frothy Caramel Colored Oil

Those bolts thread into the exhaust housing. There's no gear oil in there. Only exhaust, water, and discharged fuel/oil

1959 35HP Frothy Caramel Colored Oil

I'm not exactly sure what bolts you are speaking of. However, back then they didn't worry about dumping oil in the lake. You most likely are seeing oil that you put in the gas. No, it doesn't all burn. Some goes out the exhaust, where it mixes with spent cooling water and emulsifies...

    NEED INFO.

18-20-25hp motors had different combinations of pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and cylinder heads as well as different carbs. And no, you can't just slap a 25hp head on an 18 or 20. It's all or nothing. OMC saw you coming on this one and made sure it wasn't an easy do.

Armature plate too tight when screws are tightened

That same mounting system was use on a bajillion different motors. I just grabbed what was handy.

Armature plate too tight when screws are tightened

#27 aluminum ring goes flat side up. If that binds it up, brass ring #26 probably is bent.

    65273S Evinrude Shift issues

There seems to be some confusion here. The scan that I posted in post #3 is from the 1972 Factory Service Manual. The picture in post #4 shows the spool end of the 1968-69 motors. 68-69 does not have levers and ball valves. 1970-up does have them.

    65273S Evinrude Shift issues

The broken "cap", as it is called presses down on one of the valve levers to close off the oil flow and cause a shift.

    1970 4hp Johnson low compression

That is practically no compression. Yes, very possibly a blown head gasket between cylinders. If not, then time for a major inspection.

    Sneezing with video

Maybe it's the camera view, but how far is the motor above the gas tank? Does squeezing the squeezer bulb help?

    Oil mix ratio

Actually, it is supposed to get 16:1. 24:1 would be a minimum IMHO.

1970 Evinrude 85hp motor no spark past coil

Are you testing for spark from the coil before it gets to the distributor?

    Type "C" or something equivalent

That motor is not fussy. 80-90 outboard gear oil is fine. Probably even better than the type c, actually.

    Johnson 65ESL72S Timing question

1972 65hp service manual says 22 degrees is correct.

    Fuel line connection

Not knowing what tank you have, if it has two little pins that get pushed in when you connect the hose, your symptoms suggest the seal around the pin is leaking. Quite common on that type of tank. Simple job to repair the tank outlet

    Spun Prop

When the motor is running 8-9 MPH, is the engine racing or is it bogging like lack of horsepower? A spun prop would result in racing. Anyhoo, it is easy to check the hub for slipping, Simply make a mark on the prop nut or just use the cotter pin as a "mark". Make another mark on the...

    1966 Evinrude 60653 60 HP 4 cyl Vtwin

Head bolt should be fine. The manual won't give you any length spec anyway. Remove the bypass covers from the side of the cylinders for a peek at the rings.

1962 Evinrude 28 horse tiller need help with throttle adjustment

2-step process. (actually 3 for clarity) 1. The setscrew collar on the horizontal rod--loosen the setscrew and let it slide. 2.. Locate the pointer cast on the intake manifold, to the left of the roller. locate the mark on the brass cam that pushes on the roller. Slowly advance the throttle...
