    converting to hydraulic steering

I would opt for cutting the steering rod to remove. 4" grinder with the cut off wheel would make quick work of it.

    Long shaft vs short shaft

Over 150+ grades of SS on the market today. In a marine environment, use 316 Stainless steel hardware or go home....anything else will rust and fail over time Electro-plated Zinc is useless in an marine environments. Hot dipped (galvanize) is only half step above. IMHO, Either material has...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Not a fan of under deck storage. I have yet to see an under floor storage compartment that didn't leak, turning them and the bilge, into a terrarium/science project sooner than later. Make sure you put a screen on the drain line of that fish box if it doesn't drain directly overboard. ;)

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

What do you gain by raising the floor? I want all the gunnel height I can get.

    Maxum 25.5 leaning

Read back through your posts. Was is meant by not staying “level” on plane? What is your expectation? Most hulls have a 3-4 degree running angle (nose up) while on plane

Concrete Garage Floor, Epoxy over radiant heated floor

Either material will have issues if moisture gets under the installation. Tile would be more prone to porosity related issues than paint. My suggestion from past experience (advise of concrete finisher) is to apply a quality, penetrating sealer soon after the slab is poured. The operative word...

    Antenna plug

Pretty sure Garmin used a crimped BNC connector on that unit. Don’t know if anyone makes a BNC that doesn’t require crimp tools

    Antenna plug

If I remember correctly (had a 162) Garmin used coaxial cable on those antennas. Don’t remember the connector being all that much bigger than the cable itself. Why not pull and reroute? Splicing a coax isn’t complicated, but it has to be done correctly. Guessing someone makes an in-line...

Need a floor fastener for fiberglass, screws all stripped

Good point..... Inserts tend to “strip” from their anchor points with use and abuse. Especially in high vibration, high usage scenarios. It’s much easier to fill the stripped hole of a self tapping screw than to deal with an insert that has stripped from its anchor point and spinning with the...

    2020 Ranger towing?

I’m guessing there is a reason why it’s still on the lot. While the V6, 3.5 and 2.7 turbos are pulling animals, the 2.3 turbo is a 4 cylinder. No where near the low end torque and HP of the V6 turbos. Also keep in mind that there is more than one tow package, at least on the F150. Understand...

Need a floor fastener for fiberglass, screws all stripped

Same thing here...half of the screws holding the access cover over the fuel tanks had stripped and started to leak. This procedure works well Product: White or Gray Marine-Tex Epoxy Putty -Materials: 80-100 grit sandpaper, a drill-bit slightly larger than the original fastener hole, WD-40 or...

    Reseal cabin door frame

The weather stripping on my electronics box, gauge cover, cabin door, etc. where closed cell foam rubber with peel and stick backing. Just squeezed the appropriate amount of 847 adhesive the peel and stick and spread it around with an acid brush.

Anyone here interested in Japanese kitchen knives?

Bought a set of Henckels back in the 80's. Used them as our primary set until a couple of months ago when my wife came home with a set of "new" Henckels she got at the thrift store. The steel is nowhere close to the weight or quality of the originals. Have a ton of "antique" carbon steel...

Having a head time envisioning this happening with the tabs properly adjusted. Fixed or adjustable tabs? How far off the chine are the tabs? Ideally you should be 3-4" off each side.

    Prop suggestions

Nickel has nothing to do with the corrosion resistance or shine of the material. Nickel is a rather soft, off-white material used to impart “toughness” (make softer, reduces cracking) and reduce work hardening. Stainless steel’s corrosion resistance comes from its chromium content. The “bling”...

Just Purchased used 175 Yamaha Outboard (Are theses good engines)

There is nothing special about the electronics of modern outboards. Nothing there that couldn't be fixed, upgraded or replaced outright if there is a market for replacement parts. I suspect you'll find the OE's don't sale enough replacement electronics to make it worth the effort to source the...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

Unless you add a switch to isolate connector 1 from connector 2, both connectors are active at the same time. If something shorts the connector at station A, you short station B as well Add the switches into the mix and you see why I walked on the project and went with second transducer
