    ok thanks guys. 1 more question. most people on here says to pull the drive every year to do Maint. i took my outdrive off last year because we pulled the motor to have it rebuilt. does that mean you put new bell house gasket and o-rings every time or are they reusable

    I got it running on the skid this weekend video is of the very first start. it is starving for fuel in this video we filled the carb with gas to get it running to prime the fuel pump. once the pump primed ran smooth. Now having trouble getting the timing set. will not go into base mode.

    I also have an advance timing light. And tried just to set the advance timing to 12degrees btdc at 650 rpm with out putting into base mode and the ide jumped up high locked down the distributor. then I turned the idle screw back down to 650, 700 rpm. And then the timing went to 0 almost 2...

    the 2 pictures i posted yesterday is referencing the boat side of the wire harness. not engine side. I know the grey goes to the tach. up at the dash the connector has 8 wires. One of the wires is white w/ purple chaser

    i dont know how im contradicting myself. all the wires were taken off the motor. We took the coil of the engine and left the wires connected to it.

    1. because the wires are still connected to the coil 2. the only reason I asked about wire colors is because, the old boat harness has a white with purple wire at is not in the new wire harness.

    that will be hard to do right all the wire has been stripped off the motor and waiting for the new wire harness. if you look back at previous post you will see the pictures i took of the original wiring.

    now i understand. lol sometimes it takes me a minute. they wired in the new ignition so that why there are butt splices. Now for the diagram Box A shows a filter between the coil and the dist. since those butt splices are not filters do i need to put one in when i rewire the engine.

    Iphone 10. if i try to get the coil and the wires in the pic it to far away to see anything. why would they put heat shrink on a wire for no reason.
