    Johnson 9R-73B fuel leak

I agree. If that pic is of a new part I would take it back. It looks like it used to me.

Thoughts on Sierra carb rebuild kits

In my eyes it would be worth the extra cost. But I also feel Sierra products are the next best thing. Just my thoughts. Best

Broken head bolt. Evinrude 150 E150EXERV.

$50 bucks is a steal. Shops in my neck of the charge that just to pick up phone. Average cost would be in the neighborhood of $140 an hour.

    Stuck water pump impeller

Sorry I can’t be of any help. I’m in Ma and know of a guy that has lots of used lowers but the shipping would be crazy I’m sure. I had to ask though. I once asked this questions many years ago and the poster was only 3 miles away. Best of luck with the hunt.

AC lightning plug on Evinrude / Johnson outboards

I use a deep cycle battery and fully charge it at the beginning of my season and keep it topped off with solar charger. It will last my the whole summer.

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

So how did you make out? Did you get new lead In your rebuild kit? I never do. A buddy gave me a bunch of lead shot from shotgun shells years ago and I can usually find one that will fit if needed. I rarely take them out unless that are lose or someone mangled it trying to get it out. Anyway...

In my opinion there is no need to remove the lead shot. They just block off the milling ports. Others may say differently.

You need to remove the Welch plug as well. There are tiny little holes under the one for the ideal needle that can get plugged up.

That’s a nightmare come true. Glad they were able to drill it. That no easy job.

Sorry “does mean it getting through” should have been “doesn’t mean it’s getting through.”

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

Maybe I’m crazy but it sounded like the motor smoothed out for a split second when you pulled the trigger 4 times. Even though you have fuel at the carb that does mean it’s getting through the carb. There could be internal blockage. Putting your hand over it increases vacuum and pulls in more...

If that mix is not reaching that cylinder your running it without oil.

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

Well if that carb is not supplying fuel it’s not supplying oil either. I think you really need to dive in and find out what’s going on before running it again.

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

I can’t find your original post. Is this by chance the same cylinder that was scored that caused the rebuild in the first place?

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

Ideally you should completely dissemble the carbs and clean thoroughly and reassemble with new own kits. If your in a pinch you could try removing the needle just unscrew it nothing to worry about and spray some carb cleaner in there. To reinstall the needle screw it in until lightly seated...

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

I can’t remember what your working on but I recall you were going to clean the carbs. Did you not remove the needles when you cleaned them? Also have you verified your getting fuel to that carb and spark to that cylinder? It is possible for it to run on just 2 cylinders and run pretty well at...

Broken head bolt. Evinrude 150 E150EXERV.

Sounds you you made a good choice. If you don’t have the proper tools for the job things can go south pretty quick. Personally I have had very little luck using vise grips on stainless. It’s pretty soft and 8 out 10 times it will just break off again. But one never knows it could be a lucky...
