Ok so we have a 1956 Scott. Do you have a HP or serial or model number to go with that. In 1956 Scott Atwater was making different motors for different companies so this is much needed info. I have the service manual and Im trying to help you figure this out. Need more info

    Save or part out?

Id restore it all day. Probably run like a champ but Id first check compression to see if its an anchor or boat motor. Coils will be the easiest and it looks like the fuel pump is below the starter. I know some had electric pumps.

Vintage clinton 7 HP no fire

My question is what kind of fuel supply are you using. Im assuming a tank with primer ball? I always put a small fuel filter in-line so I watch to see if fuel is moving. Next question is and its a stupid one. Is the float working and not allowing fuel into the bowl? Look at these 2 pictures...

Coil needed for 1947 Firestone 3.5 hp

    Gamefisher 7.5 too much air

The pump bladder has to be set at 2 oclock. Just like the picture. It has to be close to dead on as possible. Other than that they arent really that fast to accelerate. Its just a lawn mower engine built to get you where you need to go and back. Your not gonna pull a tube or a skier with it LOL
