    trim pump runs but no up or down

    Yeah. Take the hyd fittings off the end of the ram (carefully, they can suffer corrosion at the inserts into the Ally). See if you can move the rams and see if the pump pumps oil out them open ended. The pump may be relieving and returning to tank if the rams are solid.

    Hi. That’s a hell of an unusual ratio for a 5.0 carb and a 24ft boat. Part of me suspects either the outdrive or the engine isn’t original to the boat.     Absolutely. Also have an incline he might be hitting the rpm limiter. Not always obvious when it happens. No beeping as you’d expect. If he is underpropped, might be the case.

    After the full throttle thing for so long…I’d be checking the health of the engine. Check the oil for anything nasty…pull plugs and compression test too.

    Need some help with mercruiser 5.0

    Hi. I’m not able to look up the serial number like some of the great guys on here. But what engine is this ? As in…carb or fuel injected ? Some carb engines have the fuel pump triggered by the oil pressure and are wired towards that.
