Unusual oil consumption? VP GM V8 Vortec 5.7

Hi Lou. I’d hazard a guess that your gauge is optimistic for sure. No way you should be at 60 psi on a gm under normal conditions and warmed up. Not saying it’s detrimental…but very unlikely to be a genuine reading at that. But to be fair. The shop manual for these also suggests that the minimum...

    Power Steering Leaking Into Water?

No worries. But is it possible that the PS fluid was low and a separate issue ? Suppose over the last few decades of owning these things…I’ve maybe learned to never presume one issue is the related to or to blame for another or underlying separate issue.

    Engine Bogging Down When Cold

Well done. I’d say that due getting swapped out. Hope it’s the issue. But seen worse for sure.

    Power Steering Leaking Into Water?

Think you’re right Scott. If I was a gambling man…I’m not sure I’d put money on the power steering leaking oil into the water though. Defo possible via the cooler…but jeez…you’d know all about it in seconds if it was. More likely power trim, trim tabs…running rich fuel when cold or just plain...

Racing Tunnel hull - need advice on long shaft vs short shaft motor

Hi. I think you need to set her up exactly as she is in the photo. It’s likely as she was then, she has a low drag gearbox/nose cone and a cleaver/chopper prop too. Looks like a shorter or modified mid section with exhaust outlet. But perhaps more than all that…and please forgive me for being...

Volvo 5.0 OSI-GF Fuel Flow Indication

Hi. This calculation is made using data from the ecu (a measured calculation of fuel used at injectors, proportionate to engine rpm) and additional data like range and lph/gph is measured by referencing the aforementioned and gps speed.

    Power Steering Leaking Into Water?

Could be. But not the most likely cause of oil sheen in the water.

Unusual oil consumption? VP GM V8 Vortec 5.7

Hi. 4 bar is nearly 60 psi. You think it’s this high when it’s running under normal conditions and warmed up ? If so…I’d say that gm will have a hard time containing that kind of pressure for too long at any sort of higher rpms. Something gotta give. Is it likely she’s running cold, she’s...

454 MAG Hard Start When Warm

Likely not too much difference, but should your plugs not be bpr6efs ?

    Mercury Smart craft assembly

I’d think it be 50/50 if you’ll get smart craft from that engine. If you defo can. Vessel view mobile is the cheapest way to go.

    All too common.

New to me Livingston not performing at its best

Sell the 4 stroke and get a good late model 2 stroke. All will be well.

What prop do I use on a regal lsr 1800 dti Deisel

Did just about 40 gps. Or occasionally a touch over. Was every bit as quick or quicker than some 3.0 versions. Very fast hull that regal stepped hull.

Reading Codes on a VolvoPenta 5.7GiC-300-J?

I’d think so. Have a look further into it. Or contact them perhaps

    1992 Mariner HP size

Excellent info. Yeah. I was aware that some later 150 were larger things. Think the tell tale was having vents on the hood perhaps. Not sure

Does 1988 bayliner have a kill switch?

Hold on. Just thinking on it now. My 1990 bayliner 2255 didn’t have a lanyard on the remotes. It was attached to a red toggle on the dash. Just to the left of the steering wheel in picture

Reading Codes on a VolvoPenta 5.7GiC-300-J?

8 injectors and fuel rail each side makes it an mpi yeah. Flat cap will confirm that too. Should be a 555 I’d think.
  19. Q

Does 1988 bayliner have a kill switch?

Check the throttle remotes. Usually one on there. But not always
