Sharing fresh water intake from one engine to a second engine

Was a merc outboard I was referring to. Got about 700 hours on a gen2 alpha so far.

Sharing fresh water intake from one engine to a second engine

Go OEM all the way. I’ve got 1200 hours on an original impeller. Although that’s only over 8 years and 1180 of the hours were in the last 3 years. I also have a water pressure readout too though. An extreme example and due a change for sure…but to show a point.

Sharing fresh water intake from one engine to a second engine

No. Water will flow to the path of least resistance. Be amazed if it worked well.

went from 3 blade to a four blade prop

No bother. Best of luck and let us know how she goes. Always keen and interested in these things.

went from 3 blade to a four blade prop

Let us know how you get on with that. But fundamentally, there is no way that set up is turning a 21” prop well…if it’s a 1.47. Can’t urge you enough to double check the variables. All the best.

went from 3 blade to a four blade prop

Don’t hold me to it…but just from knowing what I know about my boat which definitely has a 1.47 ratio and about 300hp…I know that if I run about 4600 rpm with a 21”…it is going pretty bloody quick. And on its best day…not far off 70 at its max rpms. I’d suspect either your gear ratio is much...

went from 3 blade to a four blade prop

No worries. I’d say you definitely need to check one of the values for sure. How sure are you about the gear ratio ? You mentioned it’s an efi. What was changed on the engine to now have 40hp more than standard?

    Prop suggestions for 2005 Sylvan V180 3.0L

I’d think that you could go more pitch on the prop by a couple inches perhaps. Try that and see how you go. You should likely get around 40 gps or a little over if you’re lucky, well trimmed and well propped.

went from 3 blade to a four blade prop

You’re at 33% prop slip there. I think something isn’t right perhaps.

went from 3 blade to a four blade prop

Hi. I haven’t checked…but I’m almost positive that those numbers sound a little off or crazy bad for prop slip. I’d think that with a 1.47 ratio…and a 21” at 4600…to only be doing in the 40’s…will show an almost ridiculous prop slip. Could be wrong. But that’s the ratio I have and when running a...

What age of i/o style boat should I not consider buying?

If you are in Canada…sounds like you are in campion territory. Won’t get much of a better quality boat…if you get one of the early 2000’s kevlar hull apex models. Not cheap though.

    Mercury 240 Sport Jet Issue.

Ok. How’s the compression on her ? You sure the oil system is defo still working at worst…or starting to perish and draw air at best.

What age of i/o style boat should I not consider buying?

Avoid anything with wood in the build…if possible and budget allows. As in wooden floor or wooden stringers or transom.

    7.4/Bravo - no hot start

I’d be checking the position and function of the silly auto choke, at the moment when she plays up like this.

1997 mercruiser 4.3 starts right up, runs for about 30 seconds, idles down and dies repeatedly. Oil gauge doesn't peg at all. No oil pressure alarm.

Sure sounds like the oil pressure sensor is the issue. This is what gives the signal for the fuel pump to run when cranking, after all. Other than that…can only be a fuel issue

    2000 yamaha waverunner xl700 clicking

Hi. If all is well with your starting procedure when on the trailer and off the water hose…it can only be to do with the battery connections or starter system… But being fairly well familiar with these skis and loads similar over the years…please forgive me for saying or suggesting the...

    same speed with different props

Hi. What make and model were each of the props ? But a really think the main reason is that most boats with these engines, especially the 4.3, like to run right at the top of the rpms. Like I say…most good props are at their best with more rpms…more rpms let’s then do what they were designed to...

    same speed with different props

Agree. My vortec defo at its best above 4700…closer to 4900-5000 the better for mine
