    Ok. So is there a chance that the vacuum tube may have hit bottom and then been allowed to bend upwards, meaning it wasn’t actually taking from the lowest level perhaps ?

    Some later 5.0 will only take just over 4 litres (with empty filter) to show full on dipstick. Not saying this is absolutely your issue. But that’s a fact for sure. That’s the case on my 2003 5.0.

    Deep v hulls like this can easily be affected by such things. I’d also say that unknown to some…a boat can lean into the wind too. Short version of explanation would be that if you have a wind coming at you from the port side, when on plane…to get the boat to keep a heading…you tend to steer...

    No bother at all. Was DP drive sure. If you’ve got drop box or iCloud, I have a video of it planing from a standstill. Likely doing 20 mph in just a few seconds.

    Have a look at the Sealine 218 or 220. V berth double up the bow and a small 2 berth fixed cabin mid ships. Full on pocket 4 berth cruiser. Toilet and shower heads too. With hot water etc. proper wee thing. Very well known and respected boat here in Europe. This was my one. Lovely old thing.

    Really ? It was a Sealine 218 1989. 23ft overall. VP AQ205 and 290dp variant. B5 props. Never struggled at all. Have a wee google at them. They are proper built uk heavy rough water hulls too. About 1700-1800kgs dry. About 2000kgs with fuel, gear and passengers. Honestly had plenty of power...

    Yes. Loads of us do this here in Scotland locally. Most in my marina have had them jammed full off, just with the hassle they can cause. Just need to pump the throttle a good few times to start and catch her as she fires. Let her warm up at a slightly high idle for a minute or so.
