    Initially, I’m thinking your issue is an electrical issue. Perhaps somewhere around having a reliable and constant continuity to the ecu or more in particular, the kill switch wiring perhaps. But only thing you’ve said that would throw that theory out…was the mention of it not cranking...

    Hi. Also…if it helps. You won’t be able to go far past the 4800. There is a limiter that will kick in and alarm at around 4950ish. What boat is it you have ? Sorry if I missed that detail. I’ve propped a couple of 18/19ft bowriders with this engine. If I can help any.

    I’d think you’d be right on that. To be honest, mine is the only one I’ve known with the highest gear ratio available. But I’m aware it was certainly an option over the years. It’s a 1.47 I have. Dare say the older option would be the 1.5…if it was back then.

    Do you know it was definitely a 1.5 ratio ? Most 5.0 weren’t, I’d think. Although some definitely are. I have a 1.47 ratio on my 5.0. But it has much more power than that 5.0.

    Until there is a proper test done…we have no idea if it is any better on fuel, than a good equivalent 3 blade. No idea at all. We just can’t trust these reviews. The prop slip numbers show 0 and negative slip…Total BS.
