    are the valve stems the same height. that is what the rocker arm cares about whats wrong with the cam and lifters in the motor? me, personally would take the heads in, get a refresh and upgrade the springs and valve seals prior to swapping a bump stick.

    First welcome aboard Look into a factory service manual (outboard books.com) My guess you are referring to the tilt motor vs the trim You most likely have a switch/solenoid/motor issue on the tilt motor

    I use a bit of .005" plastic shim stock wrapped around the piston to get the seal to compress when pushing the piston in the bore. at work, we have a tapered cone that drops in the barrel to drop in the pistons.

    I ran a 15x19P Solas stainless on my SeaRay 190 with a 220hp 5.0 / A1G2 1.62:1. I would hit 4900 RPM with just me in the boat trimmed out and just shy of 50mph if you hit rocks often, stay with aluminum as aluminum props fold when you hit things, stainless props can take out the lower unit...

    if the leg pops up, look at the reverse catch (bottom left corner) use the factory manual to adjust the cable. however running it not fully in gear, you may have toasted your reverse gear.

    if you pressurized the blind ends and oil came out the gland end. then yes, one of your cylinders is bypassing. when you took apart the cylinders, was it the piston seal, or the piston to rod seal you found compromised?

    your motor will always run better at idle with a higher advance. it will also pull water in from the exhaust and hydrolock. what did you set the dwell to on the points prior to the timing?

    I would pull the drives and paint them ASAFP. Annual maintenance on moored boats is painting the drives, don't the zincs and doing a bottom job Or start planning on replacing them

    FWIW..... I have a bin of children PFDs it's just part of having kids and an expensive hobby Most of the ones I have are sterns brand and were purchased in the sporting goods store with the child in tow to ensure fit.
