    Install an electric primer valve as found on Johnson / Evinrude motors from 1980 to 2005.----Simple and reliable.----Squirts fuel into the motor like you are doing now.----Does it at the push of a button.-----Lots of good used ones available.

    Not a 150.----Could be a GT 175 from late 1980's or an earlier 235 HP based on the " bubble exhaust " cover.

    Have you tried another prop ?----The hub could be slipping.

    The structure under the floor is likely rotten too.-----Do a complete evaluation of boat / motor before spending any more beer tokens.

    My wildest guess is a 1994 model.----But a dealer would insist on the serial # to get you the correct parts first time.----Online parts places will ship what you ordered.---Right or wrong parts.

    Saw the same the same feller apply plenty of gasket sealer on the intake gaskets.-----He likely blocked off the oil recirculation channel.---I doubt he even knew the channel was there.------If a little bit of sealer is good , then lots must be better.----What a joke !!!

    if engine runs cold it may not idle properly.

    The large post goes to the cap.----The smaller post gets the wire ( blue ? ) from amplifier.

    ???----The rotor has a key on it that must go in a notch on the crankshaft.-----Back firing indicates timing off or plug wires on the wrong plug.

    The flywheel key sheared on that motor has nothing to do with spark or timing.-----Compression should be 140 PSI + on that motor.-----If you put gas in the cylinders it should bark like a wild dog or roar like a lion.---The rotor key is in the right place ?

    I would say that it is running lean on low speed mixture circuit.----Need to look into that.-----Thermostat in place and working properly ?----Where exactly did you apply sealer ?

    Yes that motor has a CDI system with optical eye.-----That motor has some parts that they are proud of.----You need to be sure of your testing ability or spend up to $1500 guessing with new parts.

    That switch prevents cranking with throttle too far open.-----Does spark jump a gap of at least 3/8" on a test device.----Test with the spark plugs in the head.

    Some folks bypass the lanyard.-----That might be frowned on by some agencies like Coast Guard.
