    A compression tester in the sparkplug hole can NOT FIND reed valve problems.----Reed valves have nothing to do with compression in the cylinder !!

    You motor has 3 separate crankcases.-----Broken reed valves would mean that one cylinder is not working properly.---- That cylinder would lose crankcase compression.

    They are the sealing grooves on the 3 reed blocks.------Found way inside around the crankshaft.----They collect oil and separate the 6 crankcases in this 2 stroke motor.----If crankcase compression leaks between cylinders then they just wont start and idle well.

    I have seen 2 ring pistons and 3 ring pistons mixed.----But you should do a complete inspection / measurement of bores.-----Inspection of labarynth seals before ordering any parts !!

    Crank has to come out to remove the piston.-----Replacing one piston is common practice.-----But do a complete inspection once motor is apart.----Lower crankshaft seals must be replaced as well.

    Does this motor sit with fuel in the carburetor all the time ?------Run fuel out of the carburetor at end of each adventure.-----An empty carburetor stays clean.

    Throttle plates is what you speak of.-----The reed valves are not part of / installed in the carburetor.----Look into the carburetor and see if the throttle plates are horizontal at full throttle on your control.
