    The decals on this 1977 motor say 115 HP.------Step #1 is to determine if motor is still producing that power.-----Then you can experiment with a tachometer to find correct RPM range on the boat.

    There is no EXHAUST anywhere near the fitting where you plug in the fuel connecter.----The motor pumps PRESSURE into the fuel tank.---Study how this simple system works.----Fixing it will then be easier !

    Compression in the cylinder is OK.-----But that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with compression in the crankcase.----You can have a hole in the crankcase and ZERO compression in there.----Compression in the cylinder will still be fine

    Each piston has it's own crankcase( crankcase compression ) below the piston.----Each piston operates with it's own cylinder above the piston.( cylinder compression )

    You need to establish how water got in there.-----Otherwise it may happen again.-----Also need to determine if you really want and OMC drive.-----If you need to rush to a dealer for every little hick up you may want to shop for another boat.-----Not easy these days as everyone seems to want to...
