Let the oil drain for 2 days.----Then fill with TYPE-C for electric shift ( BRP PREMIUM BLEND ) and enjoy that fine electric shift motor.----No damage was done by the 80W90 gear oil.
The pulse hose may go to a fitting on the carburetor.-----That fitting may hide a little bladder ( used to be red years ago ) and that bladder might be called a fuel pumping element !
Test the hot light.-----Replace bulb if it needs a new one.-----Yes temperature gauges can be found if you search and per haps E-Bay or AMAZON will help.
Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more on an open air test device.-----A sparkplug laying on the block is NOT a good test.-----Is the filter screen and valve on the tank clean ?
They made changes from one year to the next.-----If there is provision for the o-ring then use it.----If no groove install it as is.----Both impeller styles will work just fine !!
The moving part of the oil pump is just a wee piston with an o-ring in a bore ( 3/8" diameter ) and is very rugged.------That part of this wonderful pump rarely fails.------These VRO pumps are not well understood , appear to be complicated and voodoo.
It does not use vacuum.-----Most of them used 2 impellers !!----One to provide cooling water to engine.----One to pump out leaky cedar strip boats.----Remember the 50's and 60's were a simpler time.

Any one who runs a motor with VRO in Canada ( 7 months of storage ? ) needs to accept that running the first tank in the season should be 50:1 mix.----Then if you have confirmed that VRO is indeed injecting oil you go to straight gas.-----Or pay the shop to verify operation of VRO and...
The wire may be for overheat warning.-----The cylinder thingy is the ENRICHER.----Used instead of choke flappers.----It does not need to be attached to anything.
No need to disconnect the VRO during the test run !!-----But mark your oil tank and monitor oil level while running at 50:1 mix.----Sorry----Questions such as this make it clear to me why 4 strokes are so popular today.
Any control box up to 1995 will work.------Must have the big REDPLUG.----No exceptions.-----If 12 volts is confusing then a replacement control box is the easy ticket.
I think these L-drives won some ---" awards " ----For new innovation when they came out.------Tells you something about the folks who make these selections.------If the boat is in excellent shape then part out that junk drive.---- Then put an outboard on the back
