I used the in line air file from HF and it worked really well. You will need a air compressor that can handle the file. I think it uses 5cfm at 90 psi. You can also do like Trooper and make a long board and use it by hand.
Your work looks great.

Did some sanding to the bow end and added more PB to shape it. I also got another large hole patched up, ignore the crack that is on the inside. I put a patch over a very thinly sanded layer of PB, then i sanded the patch way too much and pushed on the repair and the thin layer of pb cracked, this is just on the inside so it isnt much of a problem, i'll just sand it from the inside and layer fiberglass to the inside. Heres the pics:

Hey Jon sob, if you are reading this i was wondering if you could send me pictures of your mfg bow end from the same angles i just sent of. I need a image of what its supposed to look like, this is alot of shaping i gotta do. I could print out some pictures and look at them as i shape with the pb to try and get it as symetrical as possible. Hope your reading this. I got a question for WOG, how much fiberglass do you think i should put over the bow end? like maybe a big piece of 1708 over the whole thing? Maybe more?

Hey BG your making good progress . I was wondering on the first patch pic did you lay some csm down before the 1708 ? I,m sure not an expert but I believe thats what most recommend . You have some pretty large holes to patch so I'm thinking you want the best bond you can get .. I may be way off cuzz I,m not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes ..
BTW only jbc could find a picture of a goat in a float ! He cracks me up !:D

I put a piece of 1.5oz csm over the hole, about an inch larger on all sides. I'm kinda thinking the 1708 is just to give me some room for error when sanding from the inside, just incase i sand a little to far i'll have the thickness of the 1708 to save me. I might end up sanding it almost completely away once i get a redundent amount of fiberglass on the inside. Yeah, that goat in a tube picture made me crack up too! lol

Yeah i do have the early stages of MBS! Its like, one day i woke up and there was all these boats in my granparents yard! LoL! I actually have owned the red boat forever, it used to be my dads. The black one i just got a month ago, it was only 275 bucks and has a good working motor, an evinrude starflite 85, runs really good. It's gonna need a new transom and stringers, but i'll get to it someday. I'll post pictures of the black one on a seperate thread(Dont really want my thread being hijacked by talking about the other boat, lol).

The work your doing on the bow looks great. When you flip the hull I would really beef up the inside of the repair area with at least 3 layers of csm and 2 layers of 1708.
Keep up the good work.

Bringing this down to the bottom to encourage responses to my question:)

Re: 1960's 13' MFG carefree Rebuild (complete noob, i know nothing about this!)

Hey guys, been a long time since i've last spoke to any of you. Winter is just about over here in Vermont, and i'm getting ready to start working on this boat again! I've uncovered the its winter time slumber, and it looks just the way i left it. Yesterday i did alot of sanding to the bow end PB patch, and wet out a piece of csm over all the damage. Heres some pictures: What should i do for the inside of those holes? How much fiberglass should i put on the inside, and what way should it be layed? I tried glassing it a few days ago but i was using a led flashlight and didnt realise how many air bubbles there were till the following day, i've since peeled all that fiberglass off and i'm starting fresh. So how should i do it? Thanks guys

Start on the inside first. What are your temps. Gotta be at least 60? F to do any glass work. Grind it back 3" and lay some CSM then a layer of 1708 to fit the damaged area, then make a patch of csm 3" bigger and lay it and then another patch of 1708 to cover that. That should be good enuf on the inside. Then you can grind and patch the outside.

The temperatures have been 50's and 60's, i was thinking i could use a heat lamp inside of the bow end since its all enclosed to cure the resin if its cold. So you are saying i should grind an approximate 3 inch circumference around each hole? That would be all i have to do for grinding? Thanks Woody

That is perfect, thank you so much! Now, is it alright if i just grind the inside to bare glass and begin laying the way your picture describes? Like do i have to grind a deep taper on the inside or can i just laminate and create a big hump? Since it would be on the inside and no one would see it
