Troop, I REALLY know the feeling about posting NON Boat related items on the forum. At least yours are working towards getting back to your boat!!!! Not sure When, I'll get there. My company has recently Opened New offices in Moon Township. Not sure how that relates to your location but, if I ever need to travel up there we might be able to grab a beer or sumthun.

Moon Township is just outside the Pittsburgh airport :)

WOG: All I can tell you, if you happen to have a site visit to the new facility, is to strap on the feedbag & swing by Primanti Brothers, come hungry! :hungry:, there's 1 in Moon Township.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

got an early start this morning....after going and getting some paint mixed up last night...bright white for the ceiling...dark grey on bottom of the walls, light grey on top..a maroon color strip separating the two...onlt thing is the light grey looks lavendar in the can...so had to do a little test spot...I got in a hurry with the taping fo rthe stripe, so pulled up my other colors...

what ya all think?

Admiral talked me into just getting the paint on...said I was never going to be happy with the taping/seams..she's right, I would never think they were good enough...heck it is just a man cave anyway...anyone besides me that sees it will be drinking a few adult beverages anyway...so good enough...

I like the color combo...
Like you said, most visitors are going to be drooling over your EBKO, having some frosty libations and admiring the awesome Man-cave...plus most of the walls will be covered with Manly Posters of Manly things and tools and storage units and tool boxes and work benches, etc, etc...:D

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Ceiling is painted....shoulder is killing me!

lower dark grey is painted all around...

most of the "Silver dust" is on the top part of walls...I think I will be changing the top color...it was supposed to be a light grey.....just looks like a light lavendar to me....looks fine in bright sunlight...but not with the flourecent light...

tomorrow I'll be moving the heater so I can finish the back wall...finish the doorway and windows...then finish the painting if time allows...warm here tomorrow so should'nt need the heat....

gus thanks for trying to man it up....but it is still lavendar...:(

Hey, can't blame a guy for trying...:noidea:

Listen the best greys/grays come from plain titanium white tintable base and add a few drops of black tint to taste...most of the artsy fartsy colors in the showroom are pastel blends of grey with reds, blues, greens, even yellows added...

Hope your shoulder feels better...

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Maybe you could get CW to send you his sewing machine & just run w/ the lilac & lavender theme......

Yeah, definitely not.

If you'll paint the striped area 1st w/ the background color, if it's bleeding under your tape, it'll be the correct color that bleeds onto the wall. Almost a dry brushing along the tape's edge, but just a tad more paint then a dry brush. Too much & you'll be pulling paint up again when you pull the masking.

Once you have that done & it's dry enough for a 2nd coat, paint your maroon stripe.

It's been 20yrs, and the Admiral still gives me grief about a poorly chosen wall color. Supposed to be a very pale gray w/ a slight blue hue to it. It was called cool slate or some such nonsense. I denied it then, and if asked (even after posting this) I'll deny it again, but she called it my baby duck blue wall..... And in almost every lighting situation, it appeared to be exactly the same country accent duck blue my grandmother might have done stenciling around the upper wall of her kitchen of a duck (or goose) wearing a bonnet & carrying a basket. NOT at all the look I was going for

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Lots of progress this weekend...but not as much as I had hoped for.....

ceiling painted, heater removed so the dry wall could be hung in behind it, one window box finished, part of the door finished, lower half of walls painted, 2/3 of the upper walls painted, did a test area of taping for the stripe, paint pulled off again, so going to give it till next weekend to cure properly before getting the stripe on...more taping/mudding, finish the windows and the door...finish the painting...then a ton of cleaning up! I cant find a darn thing for some reason....

then I can concentrate on the boat finally!

hope everyone had a great weekend....here is to a fast work week....

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

First real warm day today..got home from all excited to get started...thought, I'll open the one garage door I have connected to the electric opener....click.....crackkaboom...$#%#^#.....someone forgot to look to see if the door was still in the locked position..tore the top panel in two almost..ripped the lifter off the door...took an hour to fix it....

Then I put some mudd/tape on this area..

Really hate to hear about the garage door.. The motor must be powerful to do all that..
All the rest is looking great.. You just keep getting closer to the finnish on the man cave..

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Dang! What kind of garage door opener you got on that? a HEMI? Geeez...that is one powerful door opener...I'm surprised it doesn't have a cut off switch wired in to prevent such an occurrence...

Anyhow, the new gray looks way more Manly, due to catching the offending Lavender color in time and immediately replacing it with a much more appropriate color...No Man Card Points are going to be deducted...

Due to having a Hi-Performance, Brute Strength Garage Door Opener installed in the Man Cave, an extra 10 points will be added to your Man Card...

That is all, carry on...;)

Love the progress Troop! Sounds like you need a bigger door for all the hp that opener has  maybe add on a second floor to the man cave?

Glad nothing major was ruined.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

from the outside you can barely tell the door was bent, will be fine...

more painting tonight, and the admiral even lent a hand...she did not last long though...but didn't take too long to get the light grey up. ran out so some thin spots that need a touch up...put the second coat of mud on heater wall area...thrid tomorrow, then should be ready to sand by friday...finish the painting...get the 2nd door back together, then wait a week or so for paint to fully cure then the stripe can go on the wall...

hope to be ordering some supplies soon to get back on the ole Ebko...
