Lookin good! Congrats to you and the wife! You better hurry before your bundle of joy arrives :)

I will now have 4.
We have 2 daughters 15 and 16 and our 5 year old son and this one looks like another little girl.
I tell my girls they can't date untill their 20 and don't live at home anymore.
I don't know if I could handle, my girls dateing.
Most boys thier age wear pants that sag to thier knees and have bolts or spikes in their face or ears or were ever.
I always think of that song about waiting up, just cleaning my gun.LOL

Hopefully tonight I can put in new gimbal bearing and bellows.
Then new oil and drop the motor back in.
My head is spinning trying to figure out what to do next. Still alot to do.

Make yourself a punch list.... then put it in order of how it should go back together. I do the same thing on my construction jobs :)

What are someways to install a gimbell bearing without a special tool? I have about 1/4 inch left to go in but doesn't want to go the rest of the way in.

Well, I broke my new gimbal bearing trying to install it. Good news is that the old one is still good just thought I,d replace it while I have it apart. I'm takeing a little break after that.
I want to get back to the bilge and transom and grind it down a little smoother, after looking at it the last few days I really think it looks bad.
I know I can do a better job than this.

Sanded the transom and bilge area today, it is so much smoother.I was scared I would mess up the glass if I sanded it but it turned out good. Grinded out some air pockets that shouldn't be thier. I'm feeling alot better about it. As soon as I get it repainted, I'll post some pics.

No pics of bilge and transom yet but I did get this done.

Cut out the rest of the deck.Covered both sides with a nice layer of resin. Didn,t glass it like I did the back to save a little time and $. Glued and screwd. Filled all holes and covered screws with 5200.

Cut and glued a piece of pvc in the drain hole in bilge. Thought that is better than nothing their at all. Their was nothing covering it to begin with I think that's were the water got in and caused it to rot.

Gaps between the deck and hull sides were larger than I liked so I filled it with foam. Tomorrow I'll test the foam and hope it doesnt dissolve when I cover it with resin. Still need to cut foam and shape it how I want it.

Heres some pics,

I also had to fix that gas line I cut. Hadto cut every wire to get the rest of it off the tank.I think it was glued.
New gas line runs about 75$ but I fixed her up under 15$.

Re: Replaceing deck and transom on 88 Mach 1

So today I cut the foam and their was alot of air bubbles. I thought the quality of the foam would have been thicker. So I smoothered it in pl to try to seal it up. I didn't try to see if the resin was going to dissolve the foam but something tells me it would.
Deck is sealed and one coat of paint.Still need to sand 1 more time and 1 more maybe 2 coats of paint.

Got the gimbal bearing in, bellows are on. Gimbal and bracket and steering arm are in.
pics tomorrow.

I,m not sure what you call it but I did pick it up at home depot. The rubber looked thick enough, looked just like the hose. Please tell me I didn't screw up by putting it on

I would hate to have to cut out my new deck. :(

Ayuh,... No way I'd use plain ole plumbing parts from HD on the Fuel system....

That IS the gas Fill hose ain't it,..??
It's supposed to have the tracer wire in it for bonding the fill spout to the tank, which is supposed to be bonded to the motor's block...
So long as everything is bonded, there's no static electricity, so No Boom....
